    Default UTStarcom WA3002G4 Wifi problem

    Hello folks

Good atlast i have found a true networking community . I hope the gurus can help me out with a problem that's been eating me for 2 days and couldnt come up with any significant result.

i have a WA3002G4 modem from bsnl, and for the past two days i've been trying to enable wireless with no success. I think i have configured the modem in the admin page correctly but my OS Windows 7 just wont show that there is a wireless network in the system.

Even the device manager shows no wifi adapter. Can someone tell me what iam doing wrong here? i simply cant figure it out guys any help would be much appreciated.

P.S im on Bridge mode guys pppoe wont work for me too.

Presume you intend to use only one laptop in Wifi mode.
    Start Network/ WLAN
does the WIFI network appear ?
( For Windows 7 commands may be different )
    copy paste here. ipconfig /all

Even the device manager shows no wifi adapter
Usually in older model laptops an external WLAN card such as Netgear wg511 is inserted either in the left side or right side of the laptop.
latest laptops have built in wlan card.
    mention your laptop details. model/make.

    Unable to set PPPoE connection.
    the link given may help.

i meant that try connecting through WIFI to PS3.because u are downstairs and modem is upstairs it is hard to catch signal as the signal rise up.

if the rooms are just above and down then it might work.

    P.S. u so lucky u have a PS3.

    @memnom
If you are interested in adding a WirelessEthernet PCI card ( cost approx Rs 500 to Rs 700/=) to your Desktop, please confirm for providing details.
The Antenna can be detached, a dish type antenna can be used to radiate the signals directionally.

No one can guarantee, that a Broadband wifi signals will reach intended destination
as many factors are involved. Height of antenna/location/obstruction/ wood/brick walls /RCC roof etc.
    etc
(usually a "LINE of sight " propagation within a radius of say 30 to 40 feet , with a wifi router
rated output of 200 mW ( recheck) may be possible )
Also the cost of commercial Dish Antennas for wifi.
You may try only the Netgear wifi wireless PCI card, and test your PS3 at different locations.
The picture in my previous post has shown clearly the propagation pattern of signals.

Another option: is to add another Ethernet card to desktop.
Connect RJ45 from second card to a WIFI router in first floor. ( RJ45 cable length max 100 meters allowed ) Cost about Rs 2000/= to Rs 3000/=
@birender may post his comments here !

as essbebe said there's no guarantee.

Sending the singals down is little difficult for modem.

but u should make a wifi extender that throws the signal in one direction.

Refer this for wifi signal extender:http://www.indiabroadband.net/showthread.php?p=43220
