    Default Utstarcom wa3002g4

    hi

I have bsnl broadband connection. i use utstarcom wa3002g4 modem/router.
Also i use Windows vista. Currently i m using RJ45 wire to connect to internet by dialing a PPPOE connection. Dialling of the connection is very critical.
I m supposed to hit the dial button between the time frame - the dsl light appears and the wifi light appearing on the Modem. If i hit the connect button after the wifi light appears then i wont be able to connect. Wifi is disabled on my laptop, so i think its not the discrepancy to choose the connection.

All I want, is to make this thing easy. I have few options in mind, like
    1. I switch on the modem and insert the cable to my laptop and the internet should be connected. I have tried few configurations mentioned on the net, they works but the download speed is not good. It keeps fluctuating. It doesn't fluctuate with my default configuration.

    2. I have option to use wifi as well. so i want that i switch on the modem and insert some key/password and get connected to internet. Also i dont want fluctuating speed plz.

    3. When i switch on the modem connect to the wifi and wait for dsl and after that i dial the pppoe connection. I please dont want the time frame to dial in.

Also can i use MAC address of the devices that will be using the wifi inorder to get more security and get rid of the wep key/password.

Please help me with the configuration on the modem and my laptop.
I am not an expert user so please be explanatory.

    I shall be highly obliged.
    Thanks in advanced.

    Regards
    Vivek

    *Thanks in advance.

    hi

    thanks a lot essbebe

i have configured most of the things
just that i want only few laptops can access the net, so i was thinking to add MAC address filter kind of thing. i think its there on the configuration page.
also i have currently configured it with WPA2-PSK with preshared key. is it safe right now or is there any way that someone other then the intended people can access my net.
    please enlighten on the same.

    regards
    vivek

If " view wireless Networks" option
shows yours as secured needs wpa key no problem.
MAC address for other laptop users to whom you have to divulge the security key.
    Please give feedback.

The link I had given has been accessed average 1000 times a month in two forums during past one year.. Add to bookmarks ( covers almost all BSNL modems ). Here I cannot edit it, to update.
