I have type 1 modem. i am planning to purchase DELL Inspiron and so want to change to type 2 modem.

Will the wifi connect to my laptop alone ? I mean, will anyother laptop within 50 meters of my router also be able to connect? How to make sure that no one else is able to use my wifi connection.

Possible. You have to set a security key in wifi router and also MAC address blocking.
