Post the link as hxxp.yahoo.com instead of http.yahoo.com. You can also copy paste the data.

    WLAN not seen/enabled .
    set it in your computer
    Start/Allprograms/Accessories/ Communications/Wireless network wizard
    follow instructions.
    Feedback.
The wifi Icon is seen with X
Right click will give a menu
    check
    disable/enable /
    status
    /repair/
    View available wireless Network
    view available wifi network

You had given a name for the wireless net work in the router
( selected some security key )
    Now in computer
the name of that wif network should appear.
Will ask for the security key
    ( enter twice )
and try. For WLAN this is required same as for LAN.
wait. I am on wifi connection ONLY with my llaptop.

or post the error messages you get.
    see previous post.

Your reply is too brief to understand.
Did you get your wifi net work name in computer? ?" did you enter a security key in modem ?
Report what you got, when wifi icon appears
    and you select
    status/
    support
    details

Give feed back for each item.
    There are two parts:
    Assuming (1)Modem settings are Ok
..testing ......(2) whether computer WLAN settings are Ok.
You should post Ipconfig /all data again.
    for WLAN.
go through the thread again and give better information.
    Para two:
    START NETWORK Wireless LAN
    Properties
    Wireless settings page opens
    Ontop
    Wireless card Box click configure
    Check "enabled"
    "This device is working properly"
    Repair etc

yeah i got my wifi netwrk name on my computer
when i clicked connect it didnt ask for a security key
    it tried to connect
    and then showed error message:
"the network may no longer be in range.........try refreshing the wirelwss connections......."
ipconfig/all data is still d same
i'm quite sure that the modem settings are ok
i'm more concerned about my lappy's wlan settings.

even the wifi adapter is enabled.
    in the programs>accessories>comm>wireless netwrk wizard>??????????????

i had an earlier wireless network present.
    so it shows 2 options:
1/set up a new wireless network
    2/add to previously exisiting network
    what should i do?

i'm more concerned about my lappy's wlan settings.
I have also asked the same.
Now try this in LAN and WLAN settings pages>
    Start Network Lan WLAN
    properties
    Network/WirelessNetwork page opens
    Select TCp/IP
    properties.
    Obtain IP address automatically
    Apply save.
( presume in modem you have enabled DHCP)

Save back up present setting of router to
    say C:/My documents/teracom wifi settings
The do whatever changes you like for security.
Now do you get ipconfig /all data for the Wlan card.
    Post it here.

Now when everything seemed to be working right, two problems have started to occur:::---

1)If i reboot my router then,i'm unable to connect wifi for a very long time.My lappy doesnt recognise the wireless network for atleast 40-50 minutes.

2)Once i reboot my router, the download speed reduces. After rebooting, the downstream data rate which would be around 2000kbps would reduce to 400 or even 90 kbps and it remains like that till i reboot my router again.I have to reboot it again n again till it attains the value of around 2000 again to achieve decent download speeds.

How to fix these probs?Attachment 6884

the problems occur both in lan and wlan
yup i've saved the router settings as you had told.

i wont be onl9 from 6:00-7:40 pm due to power cut from 6-7 and it would surely take around 30-40 minutes to get the router connection right!

Post as annexure Device info or connection status page. ( jpg pictures )
Stick to Lan mode only for the present.
    Or
Access the modem Tools menu and RESET to Factory settings and start afresh.
if modem settings cannot be accessed
Press the RESET switch either in the rear
or Bottom of Modem ( a small round hole near right side))
with a Ball pen refill and start again.
After reset try "Dialer Mode" and enter
UserID PW in computer Dialer Window>
sometimes default values may work !

if you can change the standard now showing as adsl2 + to Gdmt or Adsl recheck D/L SNR
If WIFI works Ok Ignore channel selection.
( usually for India it is 6 and 11 )
Also in WIFI mode speed will vary.
All downloads try in LAN Port.
D/L SNR is just marginal. Line conditions to be checked. SNR more say 15 and above 30 will give stable speed.
Attn D/L is also high to be reduced by checking
    connections/ using short cables etc.

wifi works fine at channel 2
all the pics were taken while using lan.

the speed variation occurs both during lan and wifi

    see under configuration
Even an increase of 2 dB will improve d/l stability.

Ensure all Phones ( in which ever room ) are connected ONLY to the the ADSL PHONE Port.

Good show. Keep GDMt rest do not change.

Also in WIFI channel selection Manual ( Now Auto so even if you change to 11 it reverts to 2 )
then channel 6 or 11 . ( later if needed try)
Just report SNR data with Gdmt
How you accessed this page ?
    Submenu ?in Internet connections?
