    Smile Home 500 problem !

    Hi,
    keep up the good work guys !
    I am bsnl home 500 user from three years now !
    i used to schedule my download with some night downloader in utorrent !
    from last two three days my snr margin sometimes drop to 1 after reboot of router after 2 am or goes as high as 25 !
    sometimes downstream line rate also becomes like 512 kbps so very slow downloads in utorrent ,when i woke up @ 6 in morning i had to reboot router manually and after that speed become normal > 220 kBps ?

    any idea guys how to bypass this problem ?

    i am using zte zxdsl 531b !
    thanks !

    @arpit60
    fluctuating in Download and Upload rate in the router because of Telephone Line disturbance or for the noise in the Telephone Line.
    Call your BSNL to repair your Telephone Line
    In the mean time pickup your Telephone Receiver and check for the noise sound, specially in the Night.

    1. Go to speedtest.net, perform a speed test and post the forum link.

    2. Go to speedguide.net, and try TCP /IP optimizer

    3. For torrents, try port forwarding.

    You can post the link as hxxp://yahoo.com instead of http.

    1. Please mention modem - model and make

    2. Post a screen shot of your utorrent window. Do you see a green tick in the bottom or an Orange triangle ?

    Did you tried TCP/IP optimizer and port forwarding ? Download a file from Microsoft and post the speed here.

    Try this

    Port Forwarding BitTorrent on the UTStarcom UT-300R2U

    Your speed is good which you get from Microsoft server. It means you are getting low speeds since you are downloading from not so good server. Rapidshare and similar sites purposefully reduce the speed for free customers.

    Portforwarding: Not available.
    If you are using "Dialer" mode
    (userID PW entered in window in computer)

    (B) Advanced Options NAT
    Only DMZ appears.
    If you are using PPP/PPPoE
    ( UserID and PW entered in WAN page )
    Model UT300R2U supplied by BSNL Latest.

    Did you tried TCP/IP optimizer ? Try a download from Microsoft and report the speed here. From your modem , post the MTU values.

    Pinging [66.230.207.58] with 1125 bytes ->bytes=1125 time=527ms TTL=44

    Pinging [66.230.207.58] with 1406 bytes ->bytes=1406 time=529ms TTL=44
    Pinging [66.230.207.58] with 1453 bytes -> ..fragmented
    Pinging [66.230.207.58] with 1430 bytes ->bytes=1430 time=528ms TTL=44
    Pinging [66.230.207.58] with 1441 bytes -> ..fragmented

    The largest possible non-fragmented packet is 1432 (1460 - 28 ICMP & IP headers).
    You can set your MTU to 1460

    1.Try Tuneup Utilities and optimize your system for maximum speed and performance.

    2. Do use a firewall ? Disable it and try.

    3. Which mode are you in ? PPPoE or Bridge ?

    check your computer affected with virus or not, If your computer get infected with malware or spyware then your LAN Link/ACT LED continue blinking when there is no use of internet from the user.

    1. Switch to bridge mode and try. All ports are open by default. Before switching, note down the values that is you need to switch back to PPPoE.

    2. Do you use a firewall ?

    3. Tried Tuneup utilities ?

    4. Run a scan using CA Yahoo Antispy. Comes free with Yahoo Toolbar.
