As i had registered at selfcare.wdc.bsnl.co.in for my portal id and pass,
i received my portal id password today in my email id,so i logged in the selfcare site. and checked my bsnl broadband usage and i was shocked as they displayed all my downloads in it
MY plan in home 500 so i get 2-3 free
and a total of 2.5 gb but this is confusing and worried about the huge bill dont know whether they wil charge me, and also tell me if i exceed ,y 2.5 gb limit will i get a warning from bsnl as i have exceeded my limit

The values show that you have exceeded the limit. Go through the values and check whether there is any entry which you have not used.

Your BSNL email ID will receive an alert if you cross the limit. Check it. You may also register here to get sms and email alerts.

But they have even counted my usage at 2:00 am which is my free downloading time
can u please check my zip file and verify if they have calculated all the usage and displayed together

what is the username the one i use to dial the connection or the portal username

Ya. NU usage has been accounted for billing. Talk to the accounts officer. For bbusage.exe, the user name should be entered as username@bsnl.in.

Speaking of sms usage alerts. I've been noticing since 3 months that these usage alerts are not at all regular. Earlier i used to get a usage alert every week stating your current download usage is so and so MB as on date. But now, i'm hardly receiving any alerts at all, even if it comes its very irregular, like once in 2-3 weeks. I just register again to ensure that the usage alerts and specially bill alerts are coming through sms. Something that BSNL can work on.

Count me in that list, infact it's not just us, BSNL is playing with free timings 2-8AM for every other NU user.
But I don't understand why somepeople still support BSNL in this regard, when there are numerous people complaining about the billing system for NU users.

Can't we take any action against them??
This is irritating, they come up with such errors on a daily basis and we users can't do anything about it.

Are they serving us for free?? Aren't we paying them for their service, don't forget service tax too for their pathetic service!!

Since people like me living in towns don't have any alternative Providers ,we are stuck with BSNL and their pathetic services.

Actually am new to BSNL....when I asked abt dis to ma friends who are using bsnl from ages say that "New website ie SELFCARE is causing such problems, former data.bsnl.in showed another coulumn of night unlimited charges which is currently mising in the new website".
I even managed to make a call to bsnl officials. One person in account dept said" many are facing such prbs and der is nthn to wry abt as when the last bill comes out..everythn will be clear"
But I dnt trust them.....

Well I use "data.bsnl.in" and they tell me the same, those data showed in portal are just for the sake of users and that is not considered for billing.
Billing would be based on another internal database they have. This is what they say.

I straightaway asked him, if that is the case then how come I was charged extra last month when extra 50MB is consumed as per portal. He didn't have any answer all he said was he'll look into the matter and let me know. Its simple they don't even know how things are done in their very own organization and even in their departments.

Don't fall for their words, they always assume customer is dumb so they would listen whatever bullshit they come up with.

I met Sr accnt officer and had a little chat with her. I showed her the reports fetched from their site and she was literally shocked to see that. She told it mite be a tech issue and will be sorted out when bill goes live. She even mentioned, if nthn happens and these amounts just adds up in ur bill then we will contact some Kalyan Bsnl head or somethn and sort they will sort it out...She winked at me and said...you continue using the service...

Well even i had complained and therefore i got a call from someone in bsnl and asked about the problem when the told him the matter he said" Everyone is facing the same problems" and also said i wont be overcharged!!!! but i'm suspicious.so i straightaway asked him if i get overcharged will u be responsible as you have told me that i'm safe. so he gave me a number immediately 435200
and told me to contact here
well i'm having exams now so i didnt look into the matter as of now

If you have a Broadcom based chipset router you can install Tomato DSL router firmware (Not recommended for newbies though, as can brick your modem)

Just google for tomato firmware, or open source DSL router firmware.

This graphs your usage per day and is really helpful if you ever get into any disputes (In this case it sounds like you were downloading, but they were just supposed to zero rate that bill)

My advice is that if anyone is telling you something (eg don't worry you wont be charged) DO get it in email.

I actually made an call to that number, but the response was same....Amount would be corrected during the billing process....As many of them face the same problem maybe it is a tech issue...lets wait and see...

the best thing to do is switch to UL plans. ULF 900 or UL 1350.

Finally problem is solved. i got my bill and thankfully no extra charges were charged although the selfcare.wdc.bsnl.co.in displayed it.
