BSNL tech support person came to my house and checked line/connection and said everything is ok.

Getting horrible download speeds/disconnects, packet losses, fluctuating latency and typically 200-400ms above normal.

latency at least 250ms more than normal; DL speed is ok.

Any kind of help about this would be appreciated.
This has been going on for about a month; with fluctuating latency throughout the day.

Sometimes repeatedly disconnecting and reconnecting to BSNL picks a server without such high latency, but usually it doesn't work.

Just like to add, reconnecting to BSNL multiple times almost always leads to:

1) higher latency
2) error 691 : Access was denied because the username/and or password was invalid on the domain.
3) stuck at "Connecting to WAN miniport (PPoE)..."
4) stuck on "Dialing"
5) error 678: "The remote computer did not respond"

I have multiple connections shortcuts setup for default BSNL dns, opendns and googledns.

I try each of these multiple times with similar problems as above, or in rare case, lower latency.

I'm also from South Kolkata..... Internet frequently disconnecting ....connection is reseting ....I have Bridge Mode ....I am a UL 750 user.

see the ping google.com output ....loss of packet ...request timeout.



But this frequent disconnection is very hard to show to the BSNL guys.....they think internet is connected means everything is Ok...I called up and they said everything is ok .

download speed is also horrible ...utorrent download speed 2-3 kbps ...

Even the http download is also affected because of frequent disconnection.

I logged complaints , dockets ...but BSNL guys don't understand all these problems....very unfortunate.

yeah 417 ms to google is just absurd.

I'm getting 400+ latency to ANYWHERE outside india.
BSNL must have royally screwed over the routing somewhere

On top of that the latencies fluctuate wildly and there is packet loss.

whatever be the case this is extremely frustrating

it's also frustrating that BSNL and everyone else is completely indifferent to the whole thing.

I wonder what kind of pings airtel/reliance are getting
coz frankly i'm sick and tired of bsnl's bullshit.

Is there any way of getting some news about what's going on ? or a way of actually contacting BSNL ?

I'm suffering almost 5+ days . As per my information,they implemented a promotional scheme to double speed for all UL users till 24th april ...somehow the process messed up in between ....instead of doubling speed it has now become halved

But the poor tech support guys are facing the heat from customers because they are less informed....entire thing is unprofessional and unplanned .

Someone *please* explain the following :

at times when I dial to bsnl I get 616+ms latency
at other times when I dial to bsnl i get 329+ ms latency

these dial attempts are a few seconds within each other
It's not making sense
Even the routing path is the same.

the same problem happens no matter what dns service I use - open dns, the default dns or google dns

please help guys, most people post completely vague threads without much useful information and get a million replies, I've provided as much information as possible, any kind of advice would be really appreciated thanks ^_^

aloha rsen! we meet after a long time (i hope you remember me :S lol ). Unfortunately the "world class" service from BSNL has once again, brought me to this forum.

My connection has been terrible lately and this morning, it's magnificently beyond horrible. My pings are greater than 500 ms to everywhere. How cool is that?

Yes, they have doubled the speed. My download speeds and torrent speeds are upto 65 kilo bytes/s and ~56 Kilobytes/s (My plan is UL750) . But the browsing is totally bottled. It takes forever to open a page and most of the time everything just times out and the pages are just hung there half open. EVEN WITH GOOGLE. Not to mention, Airtel also has updated its speeds to double the previous but airtel users aren't facing this dial up browsing experience. I have not called BSNL because i know it's pointless. They don't know anything.

Right now, as you can see i am ranting. I want to use really bad language too but i am controlling myself in the interest of this forum's clean environment.

i'm thinking of switching to a different ISP, but since Airtel also uses the same rubbish bharti routing I probably won't take that.

I guess I should look into tata or reliance.
