Default CPE Firmware Upgrade Application from BSNL

On Bangalore Telecom site, there is a link to motive.bsnl.co.in where in turn there are links to download an application and user guide.

Extract from the beginning of the user guide:
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Intended Audience:

    • BSNL subscribers who will be downloading this application for the purposes of upgrading their modems and activate them
    • Engineers at BSNL for supporting this download and activation activity to their subscribers

Key Features of the Downloader Application are:

    • Detects the type of Modem installed (UTStarcom, Nokia-siemens and ZTE)
    • Downloads the appropriate Application for upgrading the Firmwares
    • Downloads the BSNL Self Support Application from the BSNL server and initiates the Startup Wizard for the activation process (Supported in UTStarcom Modems only)
    • Small Footprint application – less time to download
    • Works with Windows XP and Vista
    • Negligible Downtime of Broadband services
    • No action taken on non Multiplay Modems

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------
Has anybody tried this? Does it upgrade firmware of WA3002G4 modem?

Yes. Saw that. But are there any firmware upgrades available anywhere? If so, there are options from the web based interface to do the upgrade. No need to rely on any separate application.

I have seen members exchanging firmware updates. You can post a request here, those have a similar firmware can share it with you. Be careful while updating firmware. You modem will be dead if it goes wrong.

don't fix things which ain't broken. if your net is working OK then don't try firmware upgrade. if wont give you increased speeds if you are thinking on same lines.

    1.
For NAT options you should be in "ALWAYS ON" PPP/PPPoE
mode where you enter your userID and PW in wan page etc.
    2.
The term "Dialer" mode is for "bridged" mode and you use windows dialer to enter userId/PW to connect.
    PPPoE is causing confusion.
    3.
the correct links (3) for sem DNA A211-I have been given in WA3002-G4 thread.
