Unhappy Desperate to get BSNL Broadband working

    Hi,
I had purchased a BSNL broadband connection about 3 weeks back. The guy came home and installed the Modem cum wifi router (make - Teracom). I was told I will be called on the landline to give me my username and password, and the net connection will start working after that. I received the same almost a week after that, but ever since have tried innumerable times to start the internet connection, but to no avail. After getting in touch with the concerned officer at the local BSNL office, I was told to call the guy who installed the hardware as well the network settings on my laptop (have only a lappy at home, no PC). He came back and tried putting in the IP settings again, but concluded that my laptop has some kind of virus due to which the laptop is not saving the IP Address, and asked me to format the laptop. But that is not true, since I am successfully able to run internet using a lan cord as well as WiFi at office by simply changing the IP address settings.
The following is the situation on switching the modem on:
    1. Power, DSL and WLAN lights are green in colour and constant.
    2. The internet light comes on in red colour, but only while switching the modem on, and goes off after the modem is switched on completely.
    3. The connection when made through Wifi, says no internet access.
    4. When connected using the LAN cord, it would earlier (before the installation guy cam the second tim) say Error 651 (the remote host/device has encountered a problem), and now says Error 691 (username/password is incorrect).

In any case, I feel if the internet connection is working, I should be able to access the net using Wifi, but as I said, it says no internet access.

Please help, as it is three weeks already since I got the connection, and next week I will have to pay the bill although I have not been able to use internet even once.

    Regards,
    Abhay Verma.

As you are in Bridge mode, Enter username like PA*********** (where * is no.) and password in small letters.

If not works, then go to http://192.168.1.1 , enter username and password admin , admin. Go to DSL STATUS and post attunation, SNR, attainable rate here.see this image for reference if ur SNR is ok or not : http://img502.imageshack.us/ifs/246/.../2/snrattm.jpg

Change mode to PPPoE and try.

    Please mention

    1. Modem - model and make

    2. Start > run > cmd > ipconfig/all, post the screen shot.

    3. Please mention the mode - PPPoE (Alway ON) or Bridge (need a dialler to connect)

In PPPoE no need to dial using dialler. ID and password stored in the modem. Simply switch ON the modem to connect to internet.

Means your laptop Network settings are OK.
Where do you change the IP address ?
In your laptop ? Why ?
Create a LAN / WIFI network
    In TCP/IP properties
    Select obtain IP/address automatically.
    APPLY SAVE.
( Check in your office Internet connection works in both modes . Presume you need a
security key for WIFI access )

    Para two: In your HOME:
    Your UserID/PW .
Presume you are using "Dialer" mode to connect. try again .
    If still no connection
    see:
This modem is same as C2110 ( less wifi )
C2110 (Type-A) ADSL MODEM MULTIUSER CONFIGURATION
If you know how to change the settings
    try VPI/VCI 0 and 35 PPP/PPPoE
enter UserID PW in modem etc.
Save reboot wait for 2 minutes.
    Check again.
    Feedback.
    In your home :
    start run type cmd OK
    New window
    type ipconfig /all
    Copy/Paste data here.

Teracom Page for comparison with c 2110.
