    1. Mention your BSNL plan.

    2. Go to speedtest.net, perform a speed test and post the forum link here.

    3. Try Open DNS 208.67.222.222 or 208.67.220.220.

    4. Disable your firewall and try.

    5. Try TCP/ IP optmizer from speedguide.net

    6. Use a good download manager.

    7. Do you use torrent ? What speed do you get ?

You can post the url as hxxp://domain.com instead of http://domain.com

Go to http://192.168.1.1 enter username and password admin , admin. And then go to DSL STATUS and post attainable rate, SNR, attenuation here.

Test your speed at Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test .

    3. Go to LAN properties >TCP/IP properties >

If your connection is not LAN but wifi, put it under its properties.

    5. Go to speedguide.net and download the application

You are getting proper speed. What is your complaint ? How much speed you get in actual ?

For higher speed in torrents, try port forwarding. Mention your mode of connection. Is it PPPoE (Always ON- ID and password stored in modem, can connect by simply switching ON the modem) or Bridge ?

^^^ When loading web pages take time this dose not mean the problem only from the users side, the problem also can occured from the server side. If the problem from the Server side then it will be rectified within 7 days.

    Hi,

Guys Am facing a similar problem !! Am on UL750 too and from past week or so Am constantly getting slower connection ! its even worse then previous (before the speed doubling) I a speed of 12-15KBps instead of 64 !! Initially I thought something wrong with browser setting or such,So did the tuning via tuneup utilities and also fine tuned the MTU and all that **** but no avail !!

I have tried open DNS,BSNL,etc etc and currently have put the Google DNS.

When I want to download anything from http or ftp it happens however on torrents the speed is almost consistent (58-62) !

Its driving me mad ! we only have 9 more days left to enjoy the speed doubling and I cannot download a single damn thing from any of the sites !

Is anyone else experiencing similar issues ?? Please share your thoughts.

    Regards.

    @soundsgreat,
The torrents are slow because of they are low seeded and mainly because you are using utorrent. Only download that torrents that are highly seeded so that you can attain good speed. Try private trackers like Demonoid or torrentleech.

    Download uTorrent Turbo Booster
    It wil increase your speed.

Gaggan my friend,no offense but you not read the post properly !! I've clearly mentioned that Am getting the proper speed via torrent and not via http or ftp !!!

My problem is with the regular web downloads, torrents are perfectly fine (both via private and public like Thepiratebay),Am constantly getting the speed thats allotted (58-62) !! its the web downloads which have shitty speed of 10-15 max !!

    Regards.

1.Did you checked your firewall ? Disable it and check.

    2. Try Tuneup utilities and optimize your system. It has some internet tweaks.

No worries buddy, thanks will give it a shot !!

Yes Sir,been there done that !! I've posted the same in my first post itself !

Initially I thought something wrong with browser setting or such,So did the tuning via tuneup utilities and also fine tuned the MTU and all that **** but no avail
Well the windows firewall is off from the beginning !! the Problem started after few of this speed doubling thing !! before that there was no issues at all !!

So Am guessing that it has something to do with them and nothing to do with my system !!

Again will request others to please post if you are facing similar issue !!

    Regards.

You are getting 50 to 60KBps on torrent file, thats mean your line speed rate is OK. If there is a problem even if the BSNL side has problem then you never get 50 to 60KBps download speed in torrent download.

Remember that torrent are useing the protocol of P2P, not the http or ftp protocol.
There is some virus and spyware which are working on the http and ftp protocol to sending some information to the net. If the computer gets infected with that type of virus or spyware then this type of problem can be possible or seen.

If your computer has that type of virus and spyware then you can see your LAN Link/Act LED allwase bliking when you are not using the internet.

as said by @gaggan4392 for checking use the FlashGet, I am also recommended it for the testing.

Am sorry but I do know what a P2P is and what is Http/Https and Ftp,all the basic and some advance stuff (Used to work as Sys Admin way back in 2000) !!! thats the reason why I specifically posted the info !!

I know you are trying to help but I've already done the basic stuff !!

There is no Virus in the comp, double checked the same !!

If its not BSNL prob then how come it works on P2P and not on Http ??

Anyways today just wanted to test the latest thing and I tried a 80MB file from RS and as I post this, the speed is constant at over 50 !!

So as I guessed earlier,it has certainly something to do with BSNL and nothing with my Comp !!

    Regards.

    Mention your modem/model/make number.
Post Statistics/ADSL Data showing Mod selected ( prefer GDMT)
    SNR/ATTN LineRate /Rate etc.
    Option 1:
Change the browser you use .
    Opera/ or Google Chrome .
    Option 2:
Fine tune with tcp optimizer from speed guide.net.
Test speed here Before and after any tweaks.Airtel

    @soundsgreat
There is no software install in BSNL side that cap the http protocol download speed.

You mention you was Sys Admin, then you can solve your problem by your self. Why asking here. The problem you mention on @Rajatheroyal thread is very simple. I am getting on p2p full speed then why not in http, If you know why this happen then you have the answare because you ware Sys Admin.

Yes, this is true that if bsnl side ( on your local BSNL side ) has problem then the users facing problem with slow browsing but not in download speed, whether it is http or ftp or p2p.
But you said you are getting at http 12 to 15 KBps and at p2p 50 to 60KBps ( I dont know you are useing download manager for http download or not ). If you said this correctly then definitely there was a problem on your side.

Good to here your problem is solved

Default my bsnl speeds have suddenly become low

i have been using bsnl broadband 500c plan for the last 5 months. till now i used to get speeds around 160-200 kbps with IDM. recently my torrent speed started fluctuating between 25-75-150-170 etc. i ignored it as IDM still gave me over 160. now suddenly before 2 days my IDM speeds have come down . it is not giving me speeds of over 100 or so.... it has never happened to me before .

Before this happened i used the tcp optimizer and a software known as full speed internet booster to try and increase my speed, instead i got lower speeds. but my browsing is fine.please help me...
i use a dlink modem GLB-802C. pls help...!!!!

Please test speed here and give screen shot.
My Broadband Speed - Broadband Speed Tester
In torrents keep U/L speed to minimum.

This website keeps and shows a record of previous speeds.

Hey guys..I too am using UL750 and the speed in the last two days has been terrible.Websites like bbc ,youtube etc take more than a min to open which is like forever after experiencing the double speed. I tested download speed and it is 5 - 8 kbps ! This is worse than dial up! Bsnl first doubles the speed to 50-60 kbps and now this?! What,Is BSNL testing its customers patience and experimenting on us whether we would switch to a more expensive scheme?? I am confused ! Anyone found solutions yet?

Also can anyone tell me the difference between a router and a modem??Sorry for being off topic but it asked me the information during registration and i was totally stumped!

Router means your Wifi which is in your modem and modem means a device that converts digital signals from computer to the telephone signals and vice versa so as they can travel in the telephone cables.

Speed will be slow due to SEA-ME-WE cable repair !!

    OR

Because of doubling of speed , BSNL might have run out of monthly International bandwidth allowance as its end of the month !!

Dunno the exact reason , but even i m facing slow speed since yesterday !!
