Default BSNL Broadband Wireless Network Extender

    Hi all

I am Dr Kukreja from Ahmedabad
Earlier also my issuse was resolved on this forum

This may appear an extension to the same issue yet I will brief my present status :

I have my residence and Clinic around 100 meters apart diagonally with a four floor flat in between

I am using a MT 841 ADSL router from BSNL for wireless internet at the clinic and a overhead cable to my residence

Now the MT 841 is requiring regular restarting every 15-20 minutes ,it gets hanged and I need to restart it so it has become an issue when I use it at home

I need some clarifications from experts :

1 .Is there some better branded and really quality ADSL router which I can use in place of MT841 ?

    2. If yes which one and what will it cost ?

    3. Is there any option to extend the wireless network so that I do not need the overhead cable from clinic to residence ? I need a wireless signal atleast 100 meters away ?

    4. Even there are areas in clinic which do net get network signal ? Can I boost the signal by some device or setting ?

    5. Is there some solution to keep MT 841 from hanging ? Can I restart from my wbebrowser away from the base unit ?

    6. Is the 801.N router better as far as range extension is concerned ?

    7. Can I use any other router at clinic and another router from the overhead cable at the residence to create a wireless network at the residence also ?

    Thanking You In Anticipation
    Regards
    Dr Kukreja

    Option 1:
    To have an Extension
Telephone ( for the same number ) line at your Clinic and use another adsl modem + wifi router there.
WA3002_g4 on rent from BSNL initially.
(or try to exchange the MT841 type IV modem with wireless card )
Nowadays Business Tariff Plans are available for use in both places.

This Internet only at one location , and not at the same time .
    Option 2:
Or get a New Telephone line WIFI modem on rent for the clinic.
    5
    Once Connection is lost NO.
    6. Is the 801.N router better as far as range extension is concerned ?
diagonally with a four floor flat.....
    Yes.
But cannot assure 100 meters range . "Line of sight" obstruction.
    7.
YES. ( Cable RJ45 stretched to Maximum limit 100 meters and also reason for poor pick up of signals)

    8. Mention the OS being used.
    Is it Windows 7 ?

    Thumbs up Suggestion!

    1. ADSL2/2+ wireless router - I would suggest you to go with Edimax AR-7265wNA (300Mbps wireless ADSL2/2+ router), it will give you best performance at your clinic. Warranty: 3yrs on all Edimax products and good pre & post sales support.

    2. If you can check signal at your residence by putting router in Clinic (any window facing towards your home) from where some signal may reach to your residence (LoS required in most cases because distance is 100Mtrs). if wi-fi enabled laptop/desktop detects some of signals at your residence. you can add one more access point (EW-7206APG) which will act as universal repeater and will extend ADSL router range to your residence wirelessly. If signal are not there, no option thru range extension, better you keep overhead cable or install a separate pair of Point to point wireless radios in outdoor. (PTP installation is not easy and not recommended, you have to take some help of local SI partner who can visit both site and will let you know possibility by taking a site survey possibility report)

    @LaurenJadeTaylor
Type your wifi router number in
Search BOx above and check old threads.

confirm with LAN connection Internet is working normal.
Mention your OS. Wifi modem/router model/make number required.
Check this thread for settings etc.
