    Default Teracom modem-problematic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hii frendz...................
My teracom wifi modem is very problematic.
1)whenever i reboot the modem,my downstream rate decreases drastically.
i have to reboot it many times to reach decent download rates.

2)once connected, after 2-3 hrs,it automatically disconnects from the internet(dsl light starts blinking) and again the download rates fall after connection is complete.

Is this common to all modems->nokia-webstar-etc?

SNR is low and attenuation is high. Get your line checked by the line man.

dear friend, its strange to see the opening of the discussion in this way or claiming the product is Problematic. First get the knowledge on the technology then claim any issue. I am also using the Type - II CPE from Teracom and its working like rocket. I have seen many good adavange on this type - II CPE, we are also using the VoIP Functionlity through it.

Hope may you have checked your line.

Other thing is too asked by the line man is the distance from DSLAM to your home. Distance is also having a big impact on the line rate.

And whats your current plan (2Mb or any other).

Try a download from Microsoft and test your speed. That will give the real value.

Log in to your modem using 192.168.1.1, browse through the pages, you will find an option to enable GDMT.

In the modem, you will find an option to enable wireless.

If you are using wireless, disconnect the ethernet cable to the same computer.

Default is it necessary to install cd (teracom type 2)

hi everyone, last month i took a new BSNLbroadband connection for my existing PCO but was unable to get speed more than 56kbps overall and download speed only around 5 to 10 KB/s.

me and BSNL person checked all possible errors and was unable to rectify the speed. if i remove coin box connection and attach adsl splitter to normal phone the speed will increase from 56kbps to 150kbps.

BUT other broadband connections are working normal in my area.

SO DONT take broadband connection for PCO phones

Hence now i have applied for new phoneline with broadband connection which i will get from 1st of aug 2010

now my dought is: is it necessary to install CD which i have got with teracom type 2 modem.
while installing from CD in registration it is failing.
So any one who has installed teracom type 2 modem please tell me
    what is pppoE user name________@bsnl.in
customer telephone no with std code__________.

Is they are same username and password provided by BSNL or something else?

Unless you need to connect using USB cable, there is no need for install CD. You can simply use a RJ 45 cable to the lan card of your PC.

username@bsnl.in will be provided from BSNL. While entering in the modem, simply omit @bsnl.in.

    Line Attentuation(Downstream) 55.5 dB
if i remove coin box connection and attach adsl splitter to normal phone the speed will increase from 56kbps to 150kbps.
Whatever connection you do , BB connection is DIRECT to modem.
( there is no circuitry inside the adsl splitter )
The splitter is used to give free passage for Phone audio but block Data signals.
