Smile BSNL dead since 6 days, about rebate...?

    Hi everyone,

My BSNL landline and broadband was dead since 7 days, since i tried it at first, portal shows usage till 16th april and the next usage in portal is on 22nd april. I lodged a complaint on 16th itself. The line was down for 5 days officially as in usage records. But actually the landline was dead since 15th night till 22nd afternoon. So, can i expect a rebate from them? I have 500C+ plan now.

Will i have to inform them about rebate or will they take it automatically in the bill?

I found this source on the internet:

"BSNL Corporate Office issued a circular to give necessary rebate for prolonged interruption in BB services. Since the BB faults are monitored centrally by Circle Office at GM level on daily basis, such interruption will be viewed seriously, at the same time customers should not be penalised.. Hence, in future, there is no need to customers applied for refund for non performance of BB services.. heither to such rebate has been provided only to the Landline Bfone services...now the facility extented to BB services also..

    1) the rebate will be number of days proportutionate to Non working of services and should be more than 3 DAYS..
2)the rebate will be granted on fixed mothly charges both for limited and unlimited plans of BB services.
    3) for limited the free usuage will be restricted to number of days rebate granted.
4)the rebate in the fixed monthly charges should be granted by the fiedl units on their own initiative without waiting from the customer's request.
    5) the officer in-charge of BB services inthe exchange /units should forward the necessary information of customers whose services are in prolonged interruption more than 3 days to AO (TR) of the Area, well before the billing details are finalised in the system (billing software).

source: BSNL corporate circular no.109-4/2007-comml. dated at New delhi 29-2-08."

Is there anyone having a first hand experience over this issue? You are welcome to enlighten other members

P.S: It has to be said that this time, since the problem was a little complicated (very old wires used still ), BSNL did take a relatively long time to resolve it and i had to visit bsnl office 2-3 times myself to request timely response. But however, it took a downtime of 7 days i guess, a considerable amount of time for not having a broadband service

Hope BSNL gives rebate to all customers .
( landline the break down is for 15 days I think before rebate can be given)
( for BB 3 days max breakdown allowed !!)
But being in "Mera Bharat Mahan"
Be ready with written documents/ emails
complaint number etc to claim the rebate !

Please give the BSNL link quoted by you.

Ya, i only gave a "phone line dead" complaint, after which when i called BB customer care, they said until the phone line is working, BB can't be serviced. So, no BB complaint lodged as such, but the landline complaint is enough no? But the proof is there in the portal, it shows no usage from 16th to 22nd. Anyways, i will write an email to the accounts officer well in advance

The source of that is not an official letter but someone posted those words in another forum.

Sorry. No rebate possible for BB usage failure.
It is a fallacy, that Telephone should work for Broadband to connect.
Telephone eqpt and Broadband eqpt at Exchange end are different , and both use a single pair to connect.

If telephone does not work, dial your own number from another Landline/cellphone.
If "bell ring" is heard, fault is at Bsnl switch end.
Then tRY the Broadband connection. May work.
This has happened to me for more than ten times for me. Phone fails Internet works.

The problem was that the bell was heard but still broadband was not working and phone was dead. Turned out that the wire had broken in between, he stripped the wire and connected it back. So, the fault is with the phone line: when the wire itself is cut, how can broadband work? Hope i get some rebate because it was not working for 7 days

Status on modem page was "ADSL down", that is broadband failure isn't it?

    You have missed the point.
What I said 'even if phone does not work, Broadband connection may work"
(Should have added " if the line is not broken /cut "....).

sorry mate, just took the obvious meaning.....

I've also observed once that when phone is not working, broadband works sometimes..... as you said if there is switch problem at telephone eqpt side.
