    Unhappy Limited or no connectivity...nothing helping...

    Hey guys...my local area connection is showing limited connectivity..i tried almost everything..from manually assigning IP and all to winsock fix....but nothings working...i use BSnl broadband on my computer via cable and with the same modem use wifi for my lappy and mobile..it worked fine[during the period when BSNL doubled the speed] then something happened..i tried reinstalling xp with no avail....when i manually assign IP address...it doesnt show the error but lan doesnt receive packets either..so net doesnt work....

    Is anything to do with hardware...?
    or something because of pirated windows version...?

    Mention your modem/model make or pick the model from here.
    http://www.indiabroadband.net/bsnl-b...ful-links.html (Bsnl: Useful links)
    Item No 2 : link. Calcutta or MP link.

    Para two:

    Trying in Dialer mode or "always On " PPP/PPPoE mode.?
    Postipconfig /all ( No edit ) for desktop and laptop.

    Step 1 : Check ur LAN drivers in Device Manager , it shouldnt have yellow ! or ?

    Mostly as u have reinstalled windows , it might not have installed correct ethernet adaptor drivers , install drivers from Motherboard cd and later if connected to internet , download latest drivers from ur motherboard/pc manufacturers website

    Step 2 : If LAN drivers are fine then open command prompt and type the following : netsh int ip reset reset.txt[and now press enter]
    then type :
    netsh winsock reset[and now press enter]

    restart pc
    check ipconfig - if its still 169 ip then reset modem , try unplugging/replugging eth cable , uninstall firewall

    go to conrol panel > network connections. Right click on lan and then select the general tab. go to the properties of TCP/IP and enter ip address as 192.168.1.1 Press tab button subnet mask will be automatically entered.once again hit the tab to get the default gateway. if this doesn't solve the problem then try turning on internet connection sharing present under the the advanced tab. note that internet connection sharing is not available in lan options . you can find it under you bb properties

    @Hackdown
    Please reply in a long thread like this.
    what is ipconfig/all....[I am new to all this..I am just 18...]
    your reply should be based on this info.

    Para two ;
    @vineetdigga002

    and about step two...i did not get anything...do you want me to change the settings to factory default in the modem settings page...[that means no wifi only lan..]
    Follow settings in this web site ( link given earlier )
    http://www.chennai.bsnl.co.in/BBS/WA...eless_security

    If you are so sure the settings you had made earlier were correct , and only minor changes required, recheck with screen shots in above link. No RESET needed.
    Save/back up your present settings to say
    C:/My Documents/ sl2 141 no connection.

    Then RESET to Factory settings.
    (By the way, can you locate the reset access ????)
    then follow website link given above.
    Ensure
    1. get connected to internet in LAN mode.
    2. for laptop try wifi
    3. Feedback.

    Default Limited Connectivity

    It's very simple..

    Click on local area connection

    U will find local area connection status

    Below there are two tabs Properties and Disable

    Click on properties

    At the bottom there are two options,

    1. Show icon in notification area when connected
    2. Notify me when this connection has limited or no connectivity

    Just untick the second option.

    There u have it. Ur problem is solved

    @myjaanvi
    Hope your suggestion works !
    will wait for feedback.
    ]Solutions to the problem are varied,
    however most of the solutions found on the web just mask the problem by
    simply guiding the user through turning off this notification.
    Now this solution may work great for systems that are showing a false positive error,
    but what if the system genuinely has lost its local area connection or the connection is unstable, what then?

    i followed each steps...my wifi is working fine from this bsnl modem...on both laptop and mobile...but the problem is on pc LAN is showing low connectivity sign..and its not receiving packets...sending at a low rate...now if i change the modem settings to Bridge mode[by default]...which would mean i would loose wifi connectivity...if further the LAN doesnt work..then..?[i will not be able to surf net any longer from anywhere]

    can bad cable do this...?
    can we get our modems changed from BSNL..without any cost....?

    Default Its again limited or no connectivity..

    Net is working fine on my lappy and mobie through WIFI..n my modem is well n good..[i inserted the cable in lappy and net went well]..so the problem is with pc.
    now when i select 'Obtain Ip address automatically' it shows limited connectivity..n when i manually assign the ip address...it does not show limited connectivity..but LAN doesnot receive any packets..

    one more thing when i opened my device manager..and clicked on 'show hidden devices' under view..i double clicked on 'non plug and play drivers'..there was exclamation mark on 'icsak'[error no. 24]..i tried unstalling.but could not..
    so now what do i do?
