    i m using 750p plan for broadband.
    earlier my speed was 50-60kb/s
but suddenly it dropped to 20-22kb/s. what could it be?
m i hacked? or some bsnl issue? or pc is dumb?

i have two machine windows 7 on cor2duo and ubuntu on p4, i use net on both alternatively, both use to give same speed, but now its dropped to 20-22kb/s

my router is nokia semens residential 1600

and i also want to ask like i have suscribed to 750 plan with 256ks/s, but i have harldy reached above 65kb/s where is other180-190kb/s r going?

speed has dropped because of the underwater line repair.

And also u will get 65KBps only.Speed was doubled and will be back on 30th April.and 25KBps and its the kilo bytes per seconds and BSNL tells speed ion Kilo bits per second.

that means after 30th april my net speed will be 25ks/s only....
and i think kilo bits is quite smaller than kilo bytes.......so what does this mean,is bsnl fooling us?

and plz tell me why we don't get the full bandwidth as per the plan as i have stated b4 that i have hardly crossed 65kb/s though my net speed is 256kb/s.
plz tell me i want to kno the technical reason bhind this..

    and why speed was doubled?

    thanx for ur quick replies...

That's why I say BSNL charge more and give less. try using SpeedConnect software. It will surely boost your net speed.

    @Blenders
Please mention the modem/router you use.
Also post screen shot ( jpg picture) of the the modem page showng snr attn
    line speed etc.
    (Usually STATISTICS / ADSL)
The upload speed is more or less equal to d/l speed.
Check in menu page DSL :the Mod mode selected and uncheck Box ANNEX M if enabled.

    1. You may uncheck adsl2+ only later and recheck d/l speed.
    2.
    Please retest speed here.
( A non Indian based server Probably in U.S)
    Sorry for the trouble.
    Both are different.

    3. On torrents , it has been advised to keep the U/L speed to the minimum.

Thanks. Recheck in Airtel site .
( Check if it shows any difference now)
If not The web site is not dependable.
I suggest speed test sites which use minimum bandwidth.
A full test at speed test.net and Ping test will use approx 20 MB.
makes a difference for Limited plan users.
these sites are used only for testing , and to
optimise speed download tcp optimiser from speedguide.net.
    use default optimal values.

Test after say May 2nd , when doubt about BSNL servers overseas connections are cleared.
