Smile dlink glb 802c router config problem from day 1

Hi! I hav this dlink glb 802c router which i hav bought some 10 days back.
from day 1 am not able 2 connect to internet.
    my internet provider is BSNL
    plan 750UL+
    OS windows vista
while config the modem all the LED ligths are on except for data.
Tried all modes PPPoE, Brige etc. but for no success.
The dlink cust. care says that my BSNL connection has MAC binding enabled, & ask the bsnl ppl to disable it.the bsnl guys say they cant disable MAC binding for security reasons.
I can assess to internet using my old Dataone modem UT300UR but not the dlink.
    please help.
    Thanks in advance.

There is no Mac binding. I use three different modems with my BSNL connection. all work ok.
    ( Huawei Mt882/ZTE zxdsl831Aii/Beetel 110Bxi)

Confirm you have installation CD , user manual forGLB802 C.
Confirm any extra Lan ports available in dlink unit.
    2. TRY anyway:
Do not use BSNL supplied Adsl splitter.
for Dlink802C. ( have to recheck details . forgot) .

    3. Go advanced , when you post reply.
    Scroll down
    manage attachements.
Upload Screen shot ( Jpg) of Connection status page of Glb802C here.
    or Upload at tinypic.com
    and give link as
    example
    hxxp://i23.tinypic.com/12qwer.jpg
    no space etc. needed.

    4. TEST later:
Give correct number for old UTstar modem.
Just remove Rj45 from computer end and connect to Dlink Lan1 from Lan 2 connect another rj45 to computer again. ( try as a switch )

Even I was thinking of purchasing this router+modem as an upgrade to my existing Nokia Siemens C2110 modem, due to some of the advertised security features of the dlink one, especially the in-built firewall.

Try these links from the router's dlink webpage.
Flash your firmware after consulting with dlink customer care:
    The quick install guide link
    For additional info: user manual

The above steps may be time consuming, but I urge you to go through the above documents religiously before proceeding.

I think its almost similar to setting up my Nokia Siemens one as per BSNL Calcutta telephones website:

    Tip:
    • As said by essbebe, ensure the splitter supplied by dlink is currently setup and that proper wires reach and exit the proper ports.
You won't be needing the usb driver's page, so you may happily skip them.
Besides on page 9 of the Quick Install Guide Router configuration using D-Link Easy Connect utility. See if that works. The site shows image of a drop down menu whre in all probability BSNL is listed.
I don't think BSNL guys will help you with this non-BSNL Hardware. Doesn't matter: because this forum and its members like essbebe among others are always there to lend a helping hand to noobs like us.

Kindly reply back if you manage to get a stable connection. Post SNR and Line Attenuation values for forum seniors comment.

PS. How much did GLB-802c 1-Port Ethernet & USB ADSL2+ Router cost anyway? Around Rs.1.4k?

Having a tough time posting this due to 15 post restriction....... Forgive me for not being able to provide the urls inspite of repeated trials.

@essbebe, you are great. Do you own any D-link Product that they even bothered to reply to your mails? As far as I'm concerned, I think there are only a few knowledgeable customer care personnel employed in India. They just can't offer hands-on solution to the problem, but instead makes you run around in circles by requesting you to perform this step followed by that step until you are driven to the very craziness of blowing their equipment. You must command great respect in these circles. Sorry about the bi***ing guys, but yes, I was tortured in a similar fashion by Intel(mobo) as well as Microsoft(Mouse). Intel did replace the mobo but M$ didn't even care to reply as soon as they found out that the mouse was out of its 3yr warranty period by just 8hr....no kidding.

@kingfisher_85, Just check whether you have connected the splitter in the correct mode by taking a look at the manual on the router's website at dlink website. Even the BSNL linesmen often mess it up, and the yellow link light keeps on blinking....

    1. Which modem/router was used /
    2. In your friend's house , did you use a "Dialer" mode and entered Friend's user ID PW to connect to internet ?
    Or
    3.
You entered his UsertID/PW in WAN page for PPP/PPPoE connection ( "Always On ")
    4.
    Copy/Paste this data
    Start RUn type cmd Ok
    New window
    type ipconfig /all
    6.
Also what is the error message you get ?
    7.
The telephone is working alright ?
may be Your BB has not been activated . call CC.

    1. After disconnecting my friends bsnl modem, I connected my new dlink modem without even changing the spitter.
    2. Dailer mode (bridge i think) i used the Easy connect cd by dlink to config. the modem. Then i entered my friends user id & p/w to connect.
    3. No
    4. I will let u know this tomorow.
By the way ip add. Was starting 4m 59.95.x.x.
    5. i)through PPPoE modem System log showed-AUTHERIZATION FAILED.
ii)through bridge mode dailler showed Error 619 user id, p/w
    6. My telephone is working good.
Am able connect with my old bsnl modem utstar 300, so i dont think my BB is inactive.

I think for some reason my user id & p/w which i use for my old bsnl modem is not matching the server when am using my new dlink modem.
Will it work if i change my current id & p/w using my old bsnl modem(although i dont knw the procedure to do it, plz suggest) & then try it using my dlink modem?
    Plz help.
    Thanks.

I am so sorry, you could not try the solution.
Always take rest and sleep soundly at regular
times. keeping awake at 4AM for such a minor issue , is not worth the trouble. when you have another alternate
modem which works fine in Dialer Mode.

    2. On inputs given by you,
I asked you to create a NEW Dilaer in your computer.
same as the one which works fine with Utstar.
Name it Dlink and the old one Utstar.
As GLB802C has worked properly in
    ((A) friends bsnl connection
    (B) dialer mode with his USERID/PW
    (c) His dialer is working fine
    (D) your bsnl BB is ok
    (e) you can connect in dialer (UTSTAR) Mode
    (f) Utstar in dialer mode OK.
    (g) GLB802c gives error with above dialer. ( name as utstar)

    OPTION 1:
    (H) One solution, make another New Dialer. check option (2) FIRST.
    http://www.calcutta.bsnl.co.in/datao...l/pppoe02.html

    Anyway
    We need this additional information.
    Start/ RUN type cmd Ok
    new window
    Type ipconfig /all

    Copy/Paste the data here.
Context Menu and click "SAVE ALL"
    Open note pad
    Click Paste. Test data apppears.
    Same way Paste here.

    OPTION 2 :
    Start Network LAN
    Properties
    Network settings page
    Highl light TCP/IP
    Properties
    Note down present entries.
    Click "obtain IP address automatically'
    APPLY SAVE.

    Feedback.

    Hi
I have been using this modem for the last one year.
Use the configuration CD which comes with the modem and use MTNL as the ISP instead of BSNL.

This will connect you to BSNL.It is some kind of mistake from d-link WHEN MAKING THE CONFIGURATION CD.

I had the same problem for the first few days and while following the "hit and trial method" I stumbled upon this fact.

    Cheers

Ensure link VPI VCI for BSNL 0 and 35 are
selected. in WAN page of modem.
If BSNL is selected entries selected may be 0 and 35.

Other wise should not make any difference.
