Thread: New connection suggestions

Ok, I want to get a better net connection that doesn't have any FUP/data usage limits. I live in Ranchi/Jharkhand. I have been using BSNL broadband but due to some reasons I have been very displeased with it since the beginning of April.

My internet usage:

Heavy downloading anytime. (not just night)
Video streaming anytime.
I dont quite care about uploading but at least 20kb/s data transfer of uploading would be nice.

Basically, I download masses. I can easily download over 60 gigs in a week. So given where I live, can anyone PLEASE suggest me a better Broadband service provider that doesn't have any FUP/data usage limit and has GOOD stable speed of 2mbps UNLIMITED (2mbps = 200 kb/s data transfer per sec if I am not wrong)? My budget is within Rs. 2900. Please suggest!

Is Airtel available in your area ? Try it.

You may also choose BSNL EvDO. It gives around 180 KBps. Advertised speed is 3.1 Mbps.

I think Airtel might be available in my area. But doesn't Airtel have FUP on high speed internet connections? Preferably 2mbps. What are the charges for BSNL EvDO and does it have any FUPs? I'd like to clarify that I am mostly connected to internet 24/7 and would require heavy downloading speeds at all times without data usage limits as my downloads are usually over 4-5 GB per file. Thanks, please do clarify~

BSNL EVDO sucks. You won't get stable connectivity. And to get good speed (and bars) you've to act like a person from 1966 with a B/W television and outdoor antenna (like he's trying to align/position the antenna on the roof to get relative clearer picture) . But for that much price (700 bux?) you can't demand more. I found 3G is better than EVDO. Ohh.. EVDO doesn't have any FUP, if it has then people would give BSNL a FUP just replacing 'P' with two other alphabets

Yeah I thought as much. Well this is Ranchi so I highly doubt that Wireless service would work any better here. Any other suggestions? What about Reliance's 2mbps Unlimited? Or any other suggestions? Please help cause I am about to head out soon to check a few places where I can apply for a new connection.

You can go with MTS Mblaze if you are opting for wireless internet but I don't think bsnl evdo is such hazardous thing to use....

If your Budget is high then just go for Airtel 2 Mbps dude. they provide great speed and service. You can also check for TATA Photon + in your area.
