Thread: please help me out!!URGENT

hi,
i wanted to set up cyber via BSNL broadband modem huawei smartax 841,currently it is on pppoe mode dial up..i have two query regading the same
1.the modem have one usb and 4 lan port, so can i use these 4 lan ports for my client as i connect USB to modem and provide sharing?If it is possible how can i make it work?
2.If i connect this Usb to my main computer & connect to internet and via my lan card of same system i provide connectivity to all clients,i suppose it will be possible but how can i configure it?
My main PC has WIN XP and rest of the clients are also running on WIN XP.
can anyone help me out for this issue.

Its very easy to set up a home network on xp
Once your main comp is connected to the net go into network connections and click on new connection and the wizard will guid you through and you can add all your 4 comps to the same network.
run the same wizard on your comps choosing the right options.

Hope this helps but if there is anything specific you are stuck on give us a shout again.

as far as i know.. u will need a switch or a hub to get ur network goin on.. the basic setup is pretty simple.. conect the comps onto the switch, just assign each of the comps an ip (198.161.1.3 onwards) and then.. connect the modem to the switch.. and its done.. the speed will be equally shared by everone..

p.s. which connection do u have? i suggest to have an unlimted connection... or else ur gonna be dead!
