Question Home900 UL Speed increase? + Petition

    Hi all,
Congratulations to all BSNL BB users on your internet speed increase on to international standards , well except UL plan users .
I think Its real discriminatory on the part of bsnl to act like this to the UL plan users.

Some members, with the Unlimited Plan, have reported of speed increase, so if you guys with a speed increase in the UL scheme, could kindly post your speeds and the SSA your connection is from I think it will be of some help to other anticipating UL plan users.

By the way, what do you guys feel about joining together for a mass petition to be forwared to all the concerned to push our need for a speed increase in the Unlimited plan?
Or should we wait and see till the end of this fisical year?

Nope.. you need to buy a BSNL landline and simultaneously you can apply for BSNL Broadband UL 900

    Default Mine has increased...!

I tried to copy and paste the speed tester page of dataone, but the image didn't came out! However, I am a newcomer to this forum as well as recently got connected to net via Dataone.

BSNL, Calcutta Telephones Free Broadband Speed Checker.

Testing is done with 128 KB of Sample Data. Formula To calculate your Bandwidth=(128*8)Kbits/(endtime - starttime) sec

    Your current bandwidth reading is:

    1.49 Mbps

which means you can download at 190.51 KB/sec. from Calcutta Telephones server located at Territa Bazar, Kolkata.

    28.8 kbps dial-up
    33.6 kbps dial-up
    53.3 kbps dial-up
    56 kbps ISDN
    128 kbps ISDN
    256 kbps BROADBAND
    384 kbps DSL
    768 kbps DSL
    1000 kbps DSL
    1500 kbps DSL/T1/Cable Modem
    1524.1 kbps YOU

Post What BSNL says about download Restriction.

Please see what is reason provided by BSNL AS per FAQ
"BNSL aims to provide fast, reliable service to all the broadband customers. Some customers try to hog disproportionate amount of available resources. Customers might select lower end plans for heavy work or make excessive use of peer-to-peer file sharing. This could result in 20% users using over 80% resources. High levels of usage by a small number of users risks reduced performance for all users. BSNL has the following options to solve this problem : 1. Lower the contention ratio 2. Provide more resources and increase the prices 3. Set download limits The first two options are not fair to 80% users who use the resources sensibly. As such setting dowonload limits was the best and fair solution. If any user requires higher limit he/she can upgrade to higher plan"

Please note that it may not be economical to permit unlimited download 900 per month. You can opt for bussiness 512 unlimited plan where speed is good

Default Home 900UL Plan users are ruined

Previously i was using a wireless internet provided in my city. I was having 256 "Kbps" unlimited plan and was downloading @ 240 "KBps" sometimes for continuous 72 hrs and most of the time for 24-36 hrs. I have downloaded
56 GB in a month (don't know how much data was uploaded). This caused their server to loose most of its available resources. They phoned me at the end of the month and yelled at me for about 30 minutes. They were shocked by this incident so much that they cut off the bandwidth of all their users to 32 "KBps". I used their service for two more months and then i surrendered.
Then i switched to BSNL as i found that its users are saying that it's offering a speed upto 2 "Mbps". I quickly applied for the Home 900UL plan as i thought that it will fullfil my needs. Due to damn slow service of BSNL i was connected to dataone after two weeks. But as i checked my bandwidth at dslreport (that was the first page i opened) the meter stopped at 238 "Kbps".
It was just a piece ****. BSNL is not providing enough speed to the Home unlimited users. This is unfair. It is just providing high speed to limited data bandwidth users so that that they download a lot of stuff by chance and bsnl may have some profit from them.
Switching to Home 500 plan for the next month.
