Default BSNL 2mbps plan unlimited at night

Here is a quick summary of this plan you guys probbably missed a few bits when you say you can download enough.
Monthly charge : Rs. 500 /- comes down to Rs. 417 /- if you pay 5000rs for 1 year
    Speed: 256 Kbps to 2Mbps
Limits: 2.5 GB for usage during the day 8 am to 2 am next day
Night Unlimited: YES (from 2 am to 8 am)
Extra charge if traffic exceeds imposed limits: 80 paise per MB
    Minimum hire period: 3 months
    Security Deposit: None

Can someone who is using BSNL confirm the correctness of BSNL's billing system? Do they goof up for the usage or something like that? Also, do these guys count upload figures? what is the upload speed like for those who have been upgraded to 2mbps?

Yes BSNL and MTNL dont allow torrents but anyone who is in the know can use any open port to use torrents.Be it any isp they cant completely ban torrents.

So for those who have this plan get set and go for your torrents at night

Please do leave your comments if you have any.

But the problem is that Indian users dont know the trick to use torrents in such isps that does not allow torrents but if used it is against their law.

You can download the torrent via bsnl line. I have 256 unlimited line and i download nearly 50Gb most of the stuffs are from torrent. All you have to do is open a port in your modem and assign the port number in you torrent client.

Admin:Can someone who is using BSNL confirm the correctness of BSNL's billing system?Do they goof up for the usage or something like that?
Ans:There billing system is accurate enough, its just da problem of syncing with there time server which results in heavy payoffs

Admin: Also, do these guys count upload figures? what is the upload speed like for those who have been upgraded to 2mbps?
Ans: yes, the upload figures are also counted. The upload speed is around 60kBps.. good enuf for adsl

    Port Blocking
There is port blocking but sometimes you don't experience it. Let me tell why.
Some new versions(Azureous in my case) automatically configure the ports if there is port blocking, as companies making these clients are also aware of port blocking.
Some times its also possible that the same client is not able to configure itself in that case we have to manually do the settings.

i used to hv home plan 500...its the best in all respect except for torrents...it gives good spd...if u use the night unlimited peiod then u can dwnld massive amount....but if ur dwnloding torent ..say a dvd-r of 4.3 gb then ur left with choice of pausing dwnld during daytime...in nigts speed becomes one tenth allmost...so its difficult to complete the dwnld...so i reverted back to ul 750 scheme....this gives pathetic speed but atleast i can dwnld from torrents....

ya..thats what i meant...for torrents its useless to hv home 500...if u use direct dwnlds then best to hv home 500 and use unlimited night traffic to your best ...

i used to get 250 kbs using dwnld manager in home 500....i can dwnld 5/6 gb per day....but when it comes to torrents over 2.5 gb(the limit of this scheme) u sd do the whole thing after 2 at night&this is the difficult part ..seeders will not oblige in most cases...so for u the best choice is HOME 500..thanks..
