i seriously need help
1.You are able to connect with the modem/wifi router with OS UBUNTU.
Means both the wifi router and laptop Wireless network settings are OK
What is the SSID name as shown now ?
2. Modem/router needs no further settings.
3. Change over to Windows OS
Presume you know step by step instructions
in the Network/ WLAN properties
disable IPV6 box.TCP/IP properties
same as in Ubuntu os
say 192.168.1.3
subjnet 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.1.1 ( modemrouter's )
DNS enter open dns 208.67.220.220 and google dns 8.8.8.8
Apply Save.
In the same Page Since your wireless network card is SAME for Both Ubuntu and Windows OS, just click configure and ensure it is enabled.
No further changes.
Now a wifi Icon should appear in TASK Bar.
Recheck ipconfig/all for wireless LAN

Upload at tiny pic.com
and give the link as

no space dot etc
or
Copy/paste the ipconfig/ all test data.
2.
I had given three examples: for ipconfig /all
You could have compared it when you used UBUNTU, and same data you should get.
Seems you have not created a wireless LAN
network with Windows OS .
Start All programs/ Accessories Communications/Wireless Network Wizard.
then try Ipconfig /all
Since you use a single Laptop, DHCP setting not important now.

Hello
I have successfully setup the wireless on this with great difficulty and with no help from BSNL. In the wireless setup, simply do the following settings.
Basic Settings:
Wireless Network: Enable
Select Country: INI
Channel Selection: Auto
Select Channel:
Network Name (SSID): BSNL_AP (you can give any name you like)
Hide SSID: No
Security Settings :
Select Security Option: WPA Mixed Mode
WEP Authentication Mode: Open
Select Authentication Method: PSK Pre-shared Key
WPA Pass Phrase: give any password which you sill enter while connecting
PMK Caching: Disabled
Press Confirm. Dont disturb any other settings.
Go to MAC Address Filter and choose DISABLES. Press APPLY.
In the Admin menu:
Reboot with LAST configuration.
Let the Reboot happen. Then connect to the wireless network you have configured by choosing from the Wireless Networks menu. Enter your password (twice) and see that the wireless is connected.
Guys, If you have any further problems you can mail me on prabhakardesh@yahoo.com. Only serious mails pls. I am a senior scientist in defence and do not have time for non-serious things.
So, enjoy your broadband.

I've never used the wireless facility of the terracom modem yet. Yesterday, I configured it with help from BSNL. My laptop and my phone detect the network and it gets to the page where it asks for the security password. But it doesn't get past that. I tried turning off the security... even then it detects the connection but it does not connect. Could someone tell me what could be the problem?![]()
Enable DHCP . Give range say 192.168.1.3 to 192.168.1.10
Enable UpNp button if seen.
Save reboot.
DHCP is already enabled.
Where do I give this range?
I can't seem to find a button that says UpNp.
I rebooted and for some time (15-20) minutes even my wired connection went down. Now it's back up.
But no difference to the wireless situation![]()

Thanks for your help
The range is already between 192.168.1.2 and 192.168.1.17
In the Services menu, I don't see anything that says UpNp.
In the Services menu I see
IGMP Proxy
IPv4 Routing
IPv6 Routing
Quality of Service
Mac Filtering
None of these has an option called UpNp. I'm using a terracom modem.
check this link for settings for teracom models. Ignore UPnp.

three cheers for esbebe!
Turning the MAC Auth to disabled fixed the issue for me
This is done on the Mac Address Filter link in Wireless Network found under Configuration.
Appreciate the wonderful work you do... and thanks a lot for your time!
Congratulations.
thanks for feedback.
Suggest back up setting to Harddisk, so that any further changes/tweaks can be tried later.
For instance Google dns 8.8.8.8 8.8.4.4 Port forwarding( torrents)
Higher security mode etc.
