Angry 2 Mbps dream only. not real!!

    Hello,
i am BSNL DataOne Home 1000 User, (354 Kbps) in Nasik, Maharashtra. They say i have been upgraded to 2 mbps but my speed has deteriorated even further. I used to get a decent speed of 40-50 kbps any time during the day/night. Now i get only 4-15 kbps anytime, its only after 1 am in night does the speed increases to 20-40 levels.

i have complained with bsnl guys which they say that UL900 plans are suffering bad due to increase usage of other plans but the other plans(like mine) have been upgraded and there should be no problem. though there is lot of problem, if these guys are not able to give me 2mbps speed i at least get the minimum 354 kbps speed promised by them. its a shame that after a blockbuster year of 2006 with great speed (atleast till we didn't taste 2mbps) of 40-50 kbps i have to use net at a pathetic 5-15 kbps

Do any of you guys have same problem? any one from similar area? Do you think bsnl will get more broadband speed that they used to get for this particular area?

    God help me!

I'm from Kolkata and having the same problem of slow download rate. I'm using home 500 plan. Previously I used to get 28-30 KB/Sec constant speed but now it's a dream, I generally get 8-15Kb/Sec and sometimes 100-200KB/Sec. but the maximum time the speed is low. Why is this happening I have no idea. I've complained to the BSNL but it didn't help me.

Well, do you think this is the reason for it? Check out the link. Though i did not find "India" among the list of the affected countries.

30-40 kBps. And it is always stable.
Btw nightwolf2k5, it seems you were right. I'm getting good download speed from today morning again (150kBps+). Let's see this time it becomes stable or not.

    Thumbs up

To all the non believers....I have two words for ya.......
    BELIEVE IT!!!!

    Here's the proof:

Granted that the speeds for last 2-3 days were very bad...but that had more to do with the snapping of undersea cable near Taiwan than BSNL trying to fool us!

    Happy surfing!

    Default Same Problem

Hi Im using BSNL from first day its launched and initially i had 3300 Plan and now 5000 Plan but never seen speed like this , when It was 3300 (1MBPS ) I was getting 1.4MBPS checked at 2wire + and i upgraded last month now, but from 27th (I heard some submarine cable damage) may be this is the reason till date im getting max 150 KBPS.. dont know what that people are doing..
I have friends in my city facing same problem.. does any body know exact reason..
i was supposed to get good services but its worst not from last 10 days.

When i see in india calcutta website its showing speed 2 MBPS+
but at 2wire and other site max 150 KBPS

man.. This is is wrong speedmeter.. coz there more than 100 websites are available in dslreports » Speed Test and also www.2wirecom] is there , and all are showing less than 150 KBPS , so that means it really wrong speadmeter"http://www.auditmypc.com/internet-speed-test.asp "..
    dont trust on that..

i m using above sites from last 2 years and always showing actual speed i.e. 14 MBPS+ and in India Based websites .. but its happening from last 10 days only .. thats working fine with indian servers.. but not ovearseas..

It is learnt from a bottom most techinian of BSNL that after opening all equipment from recieving end i.e. PC, Modem, Splitter, Rosect ect. the voltage of supplying cable pair (Telephone cable) should be 51V to 52V other wise full functionabelity of Broadband does not arrise. Please cheque Voltage of your telephone line. It may assist you to solve your problem.

I guess i have certain conclusions...
#They have screwed up international bandwidth... while i get good speeds for servers near India ( Asia- pacific, Asia, europe) but the US server speed sucks... i dont get more than 12 kbps for them.
    # The most affected users are high end (1000 and above) as we guys were used to good speeds before upgrade, now we dont constant speed, specially i get different speed during different times and different server locations.

I talked to the BSNL local customer care today. they said that all the UL 900 plan customers where by mistake upgraded to 2 Mbps now they have corrected the situation and everything is working fine

Default May be some problem with the cables

Actually if u r using a CLI telephone...there is some loop created because of which earthing problem results....hence the problem of slow speed...also 13% of the speed is lost during ATM overhead...so the actual speed will be (2048/8 -.13(2048/8)) bits per second...also if u checked the speed from any P2P file sharing, u wont gt a good result...there is always some congestion in the P2P sites making download slow...but the same time the bsnl speed is not 2 Mbps, its upto 2Mbps...meaning...ur 1 Mbps will be there but the 2Mbps will depend upon the traffic at that time....more over due to heavy traffic...during evening and after 11 at night the bandwidth automatically comes down...we can't do anything...one option is to go for a T1 line but that will cost u a bomb..!!!!!!!!!
