    1. Mention modem - model and make

    2. Which mode are you in ?

PPPoe - Can browse by simply switching On the modem

    Brdige - Need a dialler.

If you are trying to share the internet connection between two computers, you should be in PPPoE mode.

    This may help

    Mention modem/model/make/number.
How many computers desktops/laptops you intend to use ?
if you have a working connection now open modem settings page go to tools and save/back up present settings to say C:/My Documents/Internet working in dialer mode.

This is to ensure , that whenever changes are made in modem and if you loose internet connection, you can restore from back up file.

    Simple tweaks:
    Use Always On" PPP/PPPoE mode
( userID pW entered in wan page )
    In lan page enable DHCP
    enter 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.20
Save reboot Wait for two minutes.
Now from your modem connect Another Rj45 cable to second computer .
Or If in wifi mode, laptop should work without any physical connection from modem
