Default Need Help In Port Forwarding

What's The Difference Between Bridged Mode & PPPoe Mode?

Is Bridge Mode The Same As The Mode Where We Need To Enter Password And Username To Connect(Like A Dialer)

Is An Always On Connection Same As The PPPoe Node?

If I Change From PPPoe Mode To Bridge Mode All The Ports Will Be Open. But I Have Heard It's Not Safe To Have All The Ports Open. And For Bridge Mode We Need Static Ip I Think(Correct Me If I Am Wrong)

And When The Modem Is On.But I Am Not Browsing Or There Is No Downloading Taking Place Will It Account To Some Usage(I Am Asking This Because It Had Happened Once.Only 10 MB Though)

And For Port Forwarding..I Had A Port Forwarded Previously..And I Had To Exchange My Modem So The Port I Previously Forwarded Is Not Forwarding Now.

And The previous Time The Port Was Forwarded,The Bsnl Guys Helped Me(I Called Them And Said I Have To Port Forward And They Did It For Me)
But When I Called Up From My Friend's House To Port Forward His Connection
They Said It Was Not Possible On Dynamic Ip,They Need A Static Ip.

If I Call Them Now Will They Able Be To Port Forward?

Please mention modem - model and make

Bridge mode - Also known as dialler mode. ID and password entered in the dialler and click " connect " every time.

PPPoE - ID and password stored in the modem. Can browse by just switching ON the modem. Also known as " Always ON " mode.

To be in Bridge or PPPoE mode, you need not have static IP. You can do it with dynamic IP itself.

In PPPoE mode if the modem is ON and you do not use internet, still there will be a small amount of data transfer. But it is negligible.

Port forwarding is a 2 minutes business. Select your guide here

PortForward.com - Port Forwarding Guides Listed by Manufacturer and Model

Hope this helped. If in doubt, feel free to ask.

There will be some communication between the server and your modem.

The static IP they mentioned is internal static IP. It is just easy. Fill in as 192.168.1.25.

I have used Bridge mode for around 3 months. All you need to do is use a good firewall. Since the ports are open, there is no need for port forwarding.

All P2P applications need open ports to communicate with seeds.

Bridge mode allows connection to be restarted using batch files, which is otherwise difficult in PPPoE mode. But if you have more than one system and you need to share internet connection without having a server, PPPoE is the only choice.

And In An Always On Connection An Reboot Module Can Be Set To Reboot The Modem. Is It The Same Thing U Have Mentioned Above About Restarting Using Batch Files?

    Code:
    ht*p://portforward.com/networking/static-xp.htm
And In This Article It Is Mentioned That

When you set your computer to a static ip address, the router does not know that a computer is using that ip address. So the very same ip address may be handed to another computer later, and that will prevent both computers from connecting to the internet. So when you asign a static IP addresses, it's important to assign an IP address that will not be handed out to other computers by the dynamic IP address server.
    What Is Meaning Of This?

And If A Connection has Been change To Bridge Mode.Is It Possible To Revert Back To PPPoe Mode?

Technical explanation about the importance of allotting internal static IP. As I mentioned earlier, it is entirely different from external IP.

You can switch between PPPoE and Brige mode at your will.

So That Means The Modem Should Be On.

And The Batch Files Makes It To Reboot.

    In That Case,

In PPPoe Mode,We use A Reboot Module,

Whereas We Use Batch Files In Bridge Mode.

In Both Cases The Modem's Power Button Is To Be Turned On

    Am I Right?

Modem should be ON. The batch files connect/disconnect the dialler and hence make sure that the start and end times fall in 2 -8 slot. This may give a better idea

In That Case I Would Stay In PPPoe Mode And Port Forward It By Calling The Bsnl Guys

And In Utorrent Upnp Port Mapping Should Be Ticked Or Unticked.(Which Is Better)
I Have Seen Mixed Responses From Various People

If you are in "Dialer" ( "bridged" in wan page) you wont see Advanced options.
Uncheck "bridged" in wan page , and select PPP/PPPoE .enter your user iD/PW save reboot wait for two minutes.
    feedback.
