u can change your passwords on your portal ID.

Just go to BSNL Portal and type in Portal ID and Password!

Then u can find opitions to see usage and change passwords.u can change both the passwords i.e portal and the net connecting password!

    good luck

In the option change passwords I can see the option of changing only the portal password and not the net connecting password.

For changing your 'connecting' password, see this - Chennai Telephones- BSNL's DataOne Password Chage procedure

    1. How long does it take for a "Service password change" to be effective?

    2. How long does it take for "Portal ID change" to be effective?

    3. Is it true that we shouldn't change our service password for a brand new BB connection?

    4. After upgrade from P2 to MP system, what happens to the old dataone.in userID?

    @dnjkane
    1 & 2 immediate.
    3. Not sure. You have to wait at least a week for access, to Usage portal to change any password.
    4.
I have the same default PW allotted by BSNL three years back ! @ dataone.in

If you change your tariff plan, you may be shifted to @ bsnl.in. Not tried.

Any new connection only with @ bsnl.in
Now decentralisation is going on , and each State will have own selfcare portals.
( For BB usage/ check PW change etc )
seems @dataone .in users not affected.

    Para two :
If in modem PPP/PPPoE mode "always On"
is selected, users forget to change it in WAN page, and Internet connection gets lost. User has to manually change it.
    *******
    @rsk11584
our new connection portal ID is XXXX and the username entered in modem is YYYY,
    Not possible.

the password for user Id YYYY
    do you know it ?
Was the modem set up by BSNL ? YYYY= "multiplay" ? Password = password ?

Did you get set One : User ID abcd345 @ bsnl.in and Default PW
    as password ( example rsk12345 ?)
    and again
    set two:
    Usage Portal ID rsk12345052010
    default password password ?
    set 3:
    for webmail http://dataone.in
access as rsk 1234 @ bsnl.in password as suggested by you ?

Being in Chennai you are saved from selfcare sites !!! for Broadband purposes.
But for telephone related VAS: working fine.
