Thread: Nokia 1600 wifi!NO ethernet neither wifi

I today bought it!But neither it connects to LAN 1,2,3,4 Via dialer nor It connects in my lappy in windows 7
I Tried connecting in my laptop! and desktop via dialer but nothing happens
As far as wifi it detects it shows default named connection connected!But when browser is opened it not even opens 192.168.1.1,but through desktop via ethernet, 192.168.1.1 opens!But no connection error 678 again and again!
I gone through steps in wifi mode but they appear to be useless!
Please help me!Bsnl doesn't supplied user manual also!
Help me urgently please

Before trying to decode wifi issues, please make sure that you are able to connect to internet first.

1. Connect your laptop or desktop via ethernet cable (RJ45)
2. Configure the modem in bridge mode first. Create the dialer.
3. Try connecting in bridge mode.
4. Once bridge mode connection is established, (re)configure in PPPoE mode.
5. Set the DHCP service in modem = ON and set desktop/laptop LAN properties to automatic DHCP/DNS.
6. Once PPPoE connection is established, then wifi will also work.

Refer to many guides read the many guides posted in the Broadband How to section.

The modem/router/wifi is similar to
nokia 1600.

Suggestion above is valid, but for multiple systems, including PPP/PPPoE mode ( "always On" )

Also enable DHCP in modem

Post this data for all three systems.
( Disable IPV6 box in network settings page obtain Ip address automatically )
Post only ethernet wlan ipconfig /all Copy/paste data here.
No tunnels data required.!

Some laptops do not have ethernet card
built in, and WIFI is the only mode you can use it.

But sir i only want to connect my laptop in wifi no multi user connections are required because bandwidth also gets halved

I am not talking about multi-user. You must first make sure that you are able to connect to internet.

hey dude try reseting your modem!!

If none is detected then may be the modem is faulty

BTW, which modem u used before?

Please in windows 7 it shows wifi connection named default but it doesn't connects!

Use Static ip address?

PPP Ip extension
What are there functions?
One more problem is all my data is in my desktop
My laptop is new so via ethernet how can i transfer files.My laptop hAs windows 7 and xp in desktop .Except ethernet is there any other way of transferring?

For transferring files you need to setup LAN in both your systems for networking. If you are having problems setting up LAN in your laptop via wifi, why don't you use an external hard disk or flash drive to transfer data..

@andyI don't have any USB Hard drive
Setting up a LAN Is a typical job for me

Hi!

You need to be in PPPoE mode to access internet through multiple computers.

You can't detect in PPPoE mode about 678 error!If your internet light never glows then thats means like error 678.

I used this modem before!just don't type in 192.168.1.1!Instead type:

192.168.1.1/main.html

Thanks to essbebe he told me about this!When you use this you will get a new page other than just the one you got by typing 192.168.1.1.Here you will have many opitions like NAT and more!
