Modems are not like telephones to be connected in parallel!
you can connect only one modem to one
broadband connection.
(a)If your type 1 has both lan port and USB port, you can use two different computers at the same time.
(b)Or exchange one in Bsnl for a Type II or Type IV
modem with additional LAN ports
(c) or use a switch.
(d) or if both are desktop ,use additional ethernet card in say computer No 1. .

Please mention
1. Modem - model and make
2. Do you have 2 ports in modem ? 1 USB, 1 Ethernet?
If you have two ports in modem connect both machines to them. For this, first you need to configure your modem into PPPoE mode. Install USB drivers on the second system. In this set you can connect any of the 2 system. ie, you need not switch ON the other system to get internet in second system.
