i have smartax Mt841
i don't have any knowledge of connecting to wlan...
i want to connect my nokia 5530 through wireless card provided with the modem....m using BSNL broadband... pleas help???

should appear in Nokia 5530.

Enable DHCP in the modem. In the LAN properties, set " Obtain IP addresses automatically ". Enable wireless from the WAN page of the modem.

i m using it for about 1 year....but not complete...

you can add a Wire less PCI card to operate
Desktop in WIFI mode. But not worth the trouble.
Also the WLAN card being inserted in Modem Mt841 is pretty old type.
Speed/s may reduce/.

Why you want in Desktop WIFI mode ?

You want to use some mobile phone etc ?
Nokia 5530 : can connect directly to Internet
Check GPRS option. available.

If you need your modem /router to be set up check when @meetdilip or myself are online.
Then check your IP here.
Free IP Lookup (DNS Lookup), Reverse IP Lookup (Reverse DNS Lookup), Proxy Lookup, IP Whois, Blocklist Lookup
PM the ip address. to access ONLY MT841.

download Teamviewer application
PM ID and PW. to access your complete system.

see i need to use internet on my mobile and it does support wifi....i want it on my cell
i am online now so pls guid me what to do...
but will it surely solve my problem and will i able to use wifi??? (surely)

Just buy a wifi card or a wifi dongle. You will be able to connect your mobile. Do you at present have a wifi mode ? If you have, just configure it in PPPoE mode and enable wireless. You will be able to access internet using your wifi mobile. If you can connect using a laptop with wifi, use connectify. It will enable you to establish a wifi hot spot.

i have never used my wirless card before...and dont know anything about that...
i am just using my desktop for using internet...now i want to use it on my mobile also....
i have modem MT-841...

Its very easy to connect to WLAN!First Enable your Wifi mode in Mobile by going to Settings>Connectivity>Wireless LAN.Then insert the card in the modem!Then go to 192.168.1.1 and there u should be an option to enable "Wireless".Enable it and then connect through your mobile!!done!Be sure u are in PPPoE mode if u want to access internet from mobile and pc simultaneously.

Does you modem has an antenna ? Does it support wifi ?


There is nothing you need to know. Just buy a wifi card, plug in it to your motherboard and you are ready to use.

it does not have a antenna but i have been provided with a wireless internet card (PCMCIA wireless card).....so now tell me what to do....

Please post a snap shot of your modem. Normally this type of card will allow you to browse wirelessly, but does not have the facility to share wirelessly. Will comment once I see the snap shot.

I think it do not support wifi. You may need a wifi card to get internet on your mobile. Instead, you can buy a wifi router and connect it to the mode. I presume that you have a BSNL connection. I just bought a wifi modem + router for Rs. 80 per month. You can also purchase it for Rs. 1,600 + tax.

SEE this link and set MT841 for WIFI mode.

CONFIGURATION Unsecured connection first.
Check whether SSID name given appears in your mobile.
( keep the distance least say 2 or 3 feet from modem )

TEST: type this in your phone
*#62209526# - Shows MAC address of the WLAN adapter.
You get anything ?
