Default BSNL Dataone Broadband - Suitable modem

Hi, I have a BSNL Dataone Broad band connection. My current ZTX80 modem got damaged due to lightning.

I am planning to buy a new wireless modem. Can I buy it from outside shops and get it configured by BSNL folks? Or Is it recommended to buy from BSNL itself? Please advise.

What is the suitable and best modem type for wireless type? Can anyone suggest?

Bsnl will not assist in settings if modem/routers bought from outside
you could buy a type 2 adsl/modem/lanport/Wifi router for Rs 1600/= plus taxes or on monthly rent Rs 80//Pm for testing

Is it difficult to self-configure the Type-2 ADSL modem on our broadband line bought from open market?

Do you also see any concerns/issues (like cost, reliability, performance) in buying it outside?

If no, which company modem will you suggest? Cost doesn`t matter a lot to me comparing the performance/reliability.

go for Linksys WAG120N Wireless-N modem router - 3600 INR approx.
its not at all difficult to configure the modem even if u r a novice user. CISCO provides a more user-friendly CD to SETUP the Broadband Connection and detects the VPI/VCI values too...u can also go for D-Link or Netgear.
