please get the SNR and Attenuation readings and post here so that the case could be studied, more effectively.
@lijorijo
Please check how you have connected extension phones etc.
Check Bsnl links below.
Mention modem/model/make/number.
Also post Statistics ADSL data only Mod mode selected
attn d/l U/L snr D/L U/l and line rate Rate. rest not required now.
Yes distant may cause problem. But 5KM is not a big distant. It may be a unstable IP. Try 208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220

I've been using bsnl for around 8-10 months now. Had been using the "dlink glb-802c" until a week ago when I switched to beetel 450bx1. The reason for the change was this "frequent disconnection".
For the initial few months with my dlink I used to have unrestricted connection, it didn't keep disconnecting/reconnecting. Then after that, the whole messy thing happened to my connection. Frustrated and clueless, in haste, I changed my router. Unbelievably, even after getting the new beetel i could experience this fucked up reconnecting of modem. I checked the splitter, the main line cable, the adsl cable connecting the splitter to the adsl of the modem. And, I found that the adsl cable had been the culprit; it had got damaged though not completely. Its insulation coat had come off, exposing the inlay wires which to my knowledge were damaged too. I changed it today; and I'm happy I am living a hasslefree internet life.
