hello guys.I would like to know if any of you here having the 2Mbps connection are getting the 2Mps download speed. And what is the upload speed that u are getting.
I get download speeds of upto 190 KBPS and upload speeds of upto 50KBPS
Hi! I live in Aligarh....here also bsnl has upgrded d connections to 2mbps....earlier my dnld speed was 30 kbps........now its bcum 50kbps.....not fair. isnt it?? Wot cud possibly b d reason......i've confirmed 4m my frnd that his dnld speed is 180 kbps. PLEASE HELP!!
Well well well, I don't think I had so less speed while having 250Home plan a few months back. My d/l speed was 200 to 300 kbps. I murdered it by switching to UL900, most unfortunately!
Friends,
Due to a proactive BSNL Telecom district at Kodavasal, Tiruvarur Dt, TN, I have BB. Can even sign up for 'always-up-unless-down'. Am located at 5 km from the nearest exchange & ADSL is fine. Wonder what will happen when rural India wakes up in thenext few years. Will BSNL keep up with the legitimate demand?
Works just fine, except when it is down, IT IS DOWN! Whole of yesterday no BB. Fortunately have R-connect (download speed 3-8 kbps)to get us 10 people band going....
Soham![]()
Well I get a transfer rate (Download) of about 211-239kbps & Upload is about 41 kbps.![]()
Shift your telephone line to the nearest technical exchange. Secondly, check ur own home connection as the tele line that come to ur home should first get inserted onto the ADSL spliter then from that u may take out parallel lines, leaving one for the ADSL modem.
Please let me know if this worked. Bye!!!!!!!!!!!![]()
How am i supposed to shift my tel. line to "technical exchange"??? as far as parallell lines are confirmed.....i m using splitters.......i have 3 tel. instruments on 1 connection.......main line goes in to splitter......den 1 to modem...other to a 3 way splitter....i think its fine.isn't it? Do I need to change sum settings in my pc to get d desired speed??

Shift it as in pick it up and move it else where![]()
just kidding.. not sure what Bob meant, just wait till he comes back and replies![]()
Well frnds! I meant, that the line(tele line) that must come frm an exchange. There may be any other exchange in ur vicinity that is closer to ur home/house. ask ur exchange officials to shift the line of ur telephone line to the one nereast to u(if there is any). In my case my the T.line was approximately 3.5km away from my homes location; also my Dnld(Download) speed was too slow compared to the Dnld speed of my other frnds. They enjoyed about 90-110kbps Dnld speed where as mine was only 25-37kbps. Now the T.line of mine is shifted to the nereast of my home. The exchange is only 0.9km & from 1st Jan I enjoy a very good speed. I used BSNL BB from Dec 2005 now its giving me the best performance of it. Bye !

Mr. Admin... i liked ur way of answering NICE! I enjoyed it
I have tried for long to get a better download speed. I never stop disturbing the BB peoples. Once I came to know that " Mr. Bob ur machine is quite old & is not uptodate of the machines today. Please get a new good machine." Would u belive BSNL peoples do said this to me. Well if AMD 3200+ 64 FX 939 CPU, MSI RS 482 M4 main board, 512 400mhz Zion RAM, 6600GT 256Mb Geforce Nvidia Graphics Card Machine is said to old enough not support then what to say to thouse BSNL Officials(#@!$@%$#$&^#&^#$^^Y). After this they urged if i have original XP![]()
. That was my condition now the officials know my cell no. and the name. even if I go there for any of my frnds they say "You again,
for what? Ok Ok ! iI will see it on . . . "
. Don't give up what ever they say, its ther technical fault not yours & they try to avoid their duty. Bye 4 now

WAITING FOR REPLIES!![]()
wid bsnl, im getting around 200kbps download, and 80kbps upload
Hi Bob! My dataone connection is not always on.....I mean i have to dial thru a connection to get connected.....do u think it may causing the speed problem........and also do u know how to make it always on??
AS per ur advice....i've lodged a complaint at customer care "1800-424-1600"..........lets c how many "DAYS" they take to rectify the problem.......don't think it'll be corrected soon. thanx
Kbps Vs KBps
The bandwidth specified by ISP is Kilobits per second (Kbps). However Browsers and other file transfer agents tend to show speed in terms of KiloBytes per second. So 1KBps will mean 8Kbps. Some one mistake KBps as Kbps and feel that they are not getting the desired speed.

Mr. Anubhavz21 if this not your case please reply
You r right, I agree with u.
No....this is not d case wid me..........i get dnld speed of 50 kilobytes per second........and internet speed tests show that my bandwidth is 200 kilobits per second........i am already aware of this fact....thanx anyways.
if you want your connection to be an always on connection, instead of logging in each time you want to get connected, then do the following:
Go to Network Connections (windows xp)
Right Click on the connection that shows up under 'Broadband' with 'WAN Miniport (PPPOE-Point to point Protocol over Ethernet)' displayed, and among the options in the right click menu, click on Properties.
Now, a window pops up, displaying tabs, one among them being 'Options'.
Click on the tab.
Check the Checkbox that is beside 'Include Windows Logon Domain'.
You are done.
Restart your computer and check if this method worked.
Do write in your comments.
And yes..one more thing.
U said that speed test tells you ur speed is 200kbps.
then your download speed also has to be the same.
if you have a look at my prev. post, it says that i get 200kbps download, 80kbps upload. thats true..(actually, 192kbps to 240kbps. it varies)
Use some tweaking and troubleshooting software for knowing where it is going wrong in your case. Good Luck.![]()
thanx for d post........after cheking d windows logon domain......its still remains a dial up.....bt its asking for a domain name......u no wot 2 put in der??.........also i didn't say that my download speed 200kilobytes per second......i simply said that tests tell that my bandwidth is 200-300 kiloBITS per second.......dnld speed goes to a max. of 50 kilobytes per second bt only in limewire or bitcomet.
Here are some hints for your problem
1)Log on to 192.168.1.1 from your browser
normally user name : admin and password : admin
Different line parameters will be shown in home page
or in connection status
Check your Down stream parameters the line attenuation
should be less than 40
and most importent SNR ratio should be more than 10.
2)The line condition of your service provider and your residence
internal wirings both should be perfect. UTP cable is preffered at
last points to minimise frequency loss.Even florescent lamps near
the line eats ADSL freaquency.
3)i. Insufficient memory
ii. Underpowered processors;
iii.An aging and unstable windows installation,
iv. Accumulation of shareware, particularly SPYWARE and MALWARE -
Overclocked motherboards that cause unusual problems.
(modem shows a lot of flashing lights indicating "data"
even when you are not doing anything,)

Also try a speed test at peak hours and off peak hours
Just now I got a 934 Kbps download speed and 416 Kbps
upload speed at dslreports.com with 250 plan DataOne connection.
Always on has nothing to do with speed.

Dear friends, I was quite happy to know that there is broadband in Aligarh. I want to buy package for my mother who stays alone there.
Would anyone from Aligarh city advise which plan and service provider to go for. The req is not heavy use - just checking emails and voice/video chat. And would there be a minimum contract or one can join and leave anytime.
Any suggestion is quite valuable.

when i down load i get about 50-220 KB/sec
