Default any fair usage policy recently?

i have been using home 1000 (older plan) with upto 2Mbps speed. only this month i have already gone upto 34GB (incl up/down). from today im seeing a drastic drop in my b/w to 0.6Mbps. usually i will be getting around 1.7Mbps.

Not sure if this is the effect of any fair usage policy applied or some prob with BSNL or some prob in my n/w.

let me know, if anyone has faced this or any solutions.

actually i posted the speedtest.net results. anyways i downloaded a file using IDM and it shows around 70KBps ie 0.5Mbps same as speedtest results.

looks like fair usage policy is being applied. but not quoted for this specific plan, i guess. any thoughts?

@gaggan - this is home 1000 plan 5gb limit with night free, with always upto 2Mbps speed. this plan has been withdrawn since 2 months, i guess.

@rajshah - i agree it is UPTO 2Mbps. I have been using this plan for the past 3-4 months and never it has gone slower like this. also i havent ever used this much in the free usage.

may be, i need to try by using the direct connect instead of wifi.

but thought if any other guys have used this plan and got into such issues, got it resolved. meanwhile i have raised a complaint, let me see how it goes.

@rsennat I am based in Bangalore and now I am facing the same issue. I have
BB Home Combo ULF 1100 plan. My downloads have dropped now to around 20 kbps . How did you resolve it? I tried complaining and they said they will change the port but no use.

@ips - as i mentioned earlier, i did not do anything. filed a complaint and kept tracking with them for 2 days. atlast, i dont know if they did anything, but its back to usual speed.

but when u make the complaint tell them that u are using this plan for quite sometime and never faced this problem. also tell them specifically, every month im paying this much of amount (~ Rs.1300) and request them to look at the issue. surely from the exchange someone would call and he would check the speed at the exchange for your line.

i have one question for u, as per your plan, after 10GB u would get 256kbps.. so probably have you gone beyond the limit for 2Mbps?

Also just to add I am a heavy rapidshare downloader. I usually see 200 Kbps with DAP or IDM. NOw its fallen to 20 Kbps
Tried the first approach..No resolution till now. Did you go physically to the exchange or did you go through the 1800 support ?

Regarding your question, I am suspecting I have gone above the 10GB (I dont track my usage till now) but even then am not getting anywhere near the 256 kbps bandwidth.

I have not got the testspeed.net data now. I will post it once I reach home.

I am actually thinking of going to the next plan "BB Home Combo ULF 1350" and need to take a decsion on this before this month end and hence collecting all the data.

Just to add I am a heavy rapidshare.com user and I usually see aroind 200 kbps speed in DAP and IDM. Now its well below 30 kbps.

oh ho. first check your data usage, check speedtest.net and also in the dataone.in website's speed test utility. i did not goto the exchange. called up the 1600 and made sure with them, so that i got the call from the exchange.

and regarding moving to a new plan, decide based on your day time/night time usage. i know many guys are still using combo 600/500 with free night and effectively using it.
