Thread: Strange connection problem please help

I am using bsnl ITI DNA A211-1 modem.For last few i am experiancing a strange problem.I am getting connected to internet as normal but i can't browse or pages r not opening. DSL and internet leds r steady.Sometimes, after clicking 'repair' 2-3 internet starts working as usual sometimes it remain like that and i have to restart modem again.There is no disturbance in my telephone line and snr and attenuation are same as before. I am getting downstream 2046kbps and uptream860 steadily too and my internet is getting disconnected frequently...............So please help me giving ur opinions.

Are you using WIFI mode or lan mode?

If In wifi mode reposition the unit so that the antenna is parallel to the ground.

Ok. In your router select Statistics menu and select ADSl.
copy the following data
Mod mode selected. Changing to GDMT may help.
SNR attn both U/L and D/l
Line rate and rate both( u/l D/l)
Hope you have connected ALL phones ONLY to the PHONE port
of the ADSL splitter.

Also copy/paste this data here. ipconfig /all
using GoogleDNS 8.8.8.8 and opendns 208.67.220.220 may help.

i used to get almost same snr rate and attenuation rate for last 1 year.And as u said i also tried GDMT mode....i am using open dns 208.67.220.220 and 208.67.222.222


last week installed a new version of xp sp2..i don't know whether this has any connection with new xp.

still my connection is showing same problem...it's a initial problem after repairing 2-3 times my connection works as usual.getting good download speed too

Compare your SNR and attenuation values

Bsnl ITI DNA A211-1
first try for an exchange with BSNL.

Mode: ADSL2+
SNR Margin (dB): 3.7 6.4
Attenuation (dB): 62.0 35.0
Change mod mode to GDMt.
Snr values should increase. see table above.
Attenuation values very high.. must reduce drastically.
Check incoming line and local cables connectors.

update to SP3. support for SP2 ends July10th.

i will contact exchange tommorow...do u think it's better to change iti dna a211 1 modem?...i tried to update the firmwire from motive.bsnl.com but its shows my modem is not supported for update..

support for sp2?....u mean support from bsnl??

Windows OS Sp2. from Official Windows Update site , no more updates for SP2. Update to Sp3.

If you get a new unit DNA A211-I ask bsnl about software updates. Better get some other model.
We will try it later from official SEM web site. Not needed now.

i am going to ask for a modem replacement..thanks for ur replies

today a guy from bsnl came and he checked my line..he told that there is no noise in the landline...so i suspect it's a modem compliant...because modem connects to internet as usual after the dsl and internet led is steady.i can't open any websites,,,after keep pressing refresh and retry button it start working as usual

Ask him to check the SNR and attenuation values. It is very poor in your case.

yes bro, i told him about that...he don't have any idea about those things..i gonna see jto tommorow

finally i resolved my internet problem...i disabled tr-069 client and restarted my modem .now it's working smoothly...i think that crap software from bsnl motive had changed my modem configuration........anyways thank you so much everyone for ur wonderful coperation.... cheers to the forum

Your Telephone line from BSNL junction Box appears bad.
Para two
(1) Teracom is Siemens based, and see teracom link below for info.

(2) Make a back up of your present modem/router settings to say C:/My Documents / Teracom june23rd. confirm.

yeah esbebe, i will definitly create a backup...by the way connectinf new modem i can't access some sites like amaderforum ..windows firewall is off...and i tried in open dns also....do u think this has anthing to do with the new modem?

1. Try using Opera Turbo or a proxy.

2. Clear browser cache and try.

3. Try a different browser.

usually this may need change of MTU setting which is normally 1492. or lower in multiples of 8.
Check in your routers menu page.

i tried opera and proxy ..but no use...my modem mtu is set 1500 now,,,vat should i do now?...can u suggest a value for me?

Did you tried Opera Turbo or just Opera ? Try Google DNS or another browser.
