Angry Bsnl Broadband plan of 500 rs and Night Unlimited slow downloading speed

I reside in Udaipur Rajasthan and am fully frustated by the service of BSNL broadband here..

I have registered for the bsnl Broadband plan of 500 rs and Night Unlimited..

I am getting Download speed of (OMG!!) 10 Kbps through firefox day or night(direct downloads).
and at night 20 Kbps through uTorrent.

Is that what you get at (UPTO) 2 Mbps plan..??

    Things i have done:
    1. Used openDNS
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
    2. Gone to the officials(Who doesn't even know that what windows 7 is..OMFG!!!,, they think it is something like windows 2007.. and they keep on boasting about there windows vista..LOL!! :)
They at least did some configuring. To no Help!

3.Tried both the Bridged connection and the always on connection.

    4.Reinstalled Windows.

    5. Tried the modem on two computers one a old one with P4 1.6 Ghz and winXP sp3 (fresh installed) and the other with AMD PhenomX4(Its a quadcore) Ubuntu 10.04(Lucid Lynx) and Windows 7 Ultimate(32-bit)[Tried with Windows 64-Bit also.]. Each gives the same speed(10 Kbps direct download+ about 20 Kbps uTorrent).((.
    P.S. i fresh installed all the O.S.

    6. Did a firmware Upgrade of the modem. to . Version 10.4.3.12.12

    7.Stopped Windows Update.

can anybody help me out to increase my speed.....
Its been 15 days with this lousy Connection.

    Try this link

http://www.indiabroadband.net/broadb...onnection.html (How to: get max. speed of a connection)

    To do

    1. Disable your firewall and try.

    2. Disable your antivirus and try.

    3. Use a friend's modem and try.

Get your line checked by the line man. Ask him to give a single line without joints. Shortening the wire may not help.

    This might help

    REPLY
A response/Phone call should come from your local Bsnl Exchange.
    within three days.

Unchecking ADSL2+ in modem menu DSL may improve slightly.
    3.
Also in modem menu page DNS ( Under Advanced Options )
    Uncheck box obtain DNS automatically
    enter 8.8.8.8 and 208.67.220.220

    Try and give feedback.

you are facing this problem because your selection of the ADSL mode is not correct. Your Upstream Data Rate is very low then the correct one for getting 2Mbps on download speed. The line speed should be 2048Kbps or higher and 256Kbps or Higher, any below line rate cause the speed problem.

To solve this problem you have to select the correct ADSL mode. For upto 2Mbps select G.DMT
This ADSL mode will correct your Upstream Data Rate to stander one.

Remember for getting 2Mbps download speed your Upstream Data Rate need to change 256Kbps or higher instead of 137Kbps.

For checking which ADSL mode currently you are on
Go to http://192.168.1.1/ and click Advanced option.

To change the ADSL mode try this.
Use Mozilla Firefox, because Internet Explorer does not support or gona take effect the changes when you make to your modem.
This step taken out from modem SIEMENS C2110, currently I dont have teracom modem in my desk.

Open Mozilla Firefox then go to http://192.168.1.1/
Click Internet connection, Click ADSL, Click Basic Attributes.
Check the Capability option, select G.DMT from the drop down windo.
    Click Apply

If you dont find the option for changing the ADSL mode then change your current modem to another one with another model where you can change the ADSL mode manually.

    @youllbelost
Go to http://192.168.1.1 and click the Advanced option and see what the ADSL mode shows to you.

Your Modem needs to G.DMT mode, if the advanced option shows that you are in G.DMT and your upload speed same like 137Kbps then your DSLAM port not configure correct.

But remember when you are in G.DMT mode your problem will be solve.

Your friend gets the correct download speed because his/her modem configure correct with the DSLAM.
