    1.Perhaps you may find the old thread in this link "teracom" useful.
    2.usually default MTU is 1492 for an ADSl connection. How you decided 1460 is ideal ?
    3.You can lower it in multiples of 8 if some websites do not open.
    4. usually for a slow BB connection Annex M is disabled.
    5. Also ADSL2 + can be unchecked and GDMt or Adsl2 selected.
    6. Post as annexure screen shot of connection status.

    7. I have noticed, the different options only just now, as given by you , and rarely these options are changed or understood !!
    8. Feedback item wise please.

    Essbebe, I have noticed you recommend g.dmt to everyone. May I know why? In my case, G.DMT does not perform well at all. Even ADSL 2 wasn't that good. ADSL 2+ works best. Actually, if the line is good, then any standard should be good enough for our kinda connections. If it isn't so, then you need to get the line looked at.

    @Racoon
    Theoretical maximums of :
    DSL – 8 Mbps
    ADSL -12 Mbps
    ADSL2+ -24 Mbps

    Depends on the speed of your BB connection.
    the modem synchronises to higher speeds when Adsl2 +
    is selected for low speeds.

    Users need instant solutions. ( trial and error method )
    IF IT WORKS DON'T REPAIR IT
    You can try different mod mode/s and decide which is best.
    Some users have Auto mode selected , and it can be GDMT ,T413
    or Glite or Adsl2 +
    Para two:
    I used to select Adsl2+ with my Airtel upto 2 Mbps connection, without any problem. Whereas for BSNL BB upto 2 Mbps GDMT was used. Now unable to recheck both connections.

    ^^^Yes, thats right. Thats why I said "our kinda connections"; ie. where upto 2 Mpbs is the max. most here will get. So if the line is good enough, any standard should be ok. In my case, when the line was really bad, ADSL2+ was able to get better speeds. G.DMT made it worse. Others' experience could differ, depending on line conditions.

    @mikee
    Your router is going out of sync because of poor line condition or you stay long distance from DSLAM.
    Go to your Router WEB GUI and click Advanced, now check what is your Line connection says, ADSL2+ or G.DMT

    If it's saying ADSL2+ then go to option Internet connection, Click ADSL, Click Basic Attributes.
    Check the Capability option, select G.DMT from the drop down windo.
    Click Apply

    Use Mozilla Firefox, because Internet Explorer does not support or gona take effect the changes when you make to your modem altho Internet Explorer 8 works fine.

    Check does it takes effect

    @Raccoon
    ADSL2+ works good if the line condition are good, if the line condition is poor or you stay long distance from your DSLAM then your router is going to out of sync. Thats why we are saying to users for G.DMT instead of ADSL2+ ( If they are not using 8 Mbps or higher Plan )
    This is true that ADSL2+ giving good download speed then G.DMT but only when if ADSL2+ change your line speed higher then the actual one.

    for an example with Plan Upto 2Mbps
    a line giving DL speed 2048Kbps and UL 256 Kbps when G.DMT select
    Giving 210KBps to 215KBps
    and change to ADSL2+
    and line speed has change to DL 6500 and UL 256 or higher, then you gets Download speed 230KBps to 240Kbps
    or if the DL speed remain same on ADSL2+ mode like 2048Kbps and only change on the UL speed to high level 275Kbps or 356Kbps or 512 Kbps instead of 256Kbps then you also gets 230KBps to 240KBps download speed.

    But remember on ADSL2+ Mode your line condition should be good and your modem needs to near from DSLAM or your are facing out of sync of DSL signal.

    As I said earlier - I have observed that ADSL 2+ worked better even when line conditions were not good!! Changing to G.DMT made things worse.

    As for distance, I'm about 2 km away from the DSLAM (road distance).

    Look at my parameters -

    Line conditions.JPG

    My line is better now, but still attenuation is 41, which is quite high. And, in a nutshell, BSNL have expressed their inability to improve the line conditions further. In any case its working ok now - I get the promised speeds and no disconnections. ADSL 2+ is working well as you can see in the pic. In fact now G.DMT or ADSL2 or whatever else seems to give the same performance.

    Technically this is not true that ADSL 2+ works good on poor line condition.

    2Km from DSLAM near for your router.

    What is the problem you face when you are in G.DMT mode ?

    Not sure if its that simple. For eg. if noise is the problem, then it may depend on what frequencies it is preponderant on, etc., etc...

    Problem with G.DMT was when my line was bad. Problem was that it degraded the already bad speed even further.

    @mikee
    If you don't have any problem avoid it.
    Firmware update.
    Check present version.
    probably your modem will be set to "Always ON" PPP/PPPoE mode ( userID/PW entered in Wan page of modem )
    see the link "teracom " below for more details in Teracom web site.
