so whats the plan for me, is 750 plan good enough to watch movies without buffering, on stagevu/divx or something similar.

ill pay, i think atleast 1500, if speed is what I want, lot of speed.

List of all plans and tariff from BSNL

    Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd.

You may choose UL 750 which has good speed (512 Kbps) now. Or you may try ULF 1100 which gives 2 Mbps unlimited till 10 GB or ULF 1350 which gives 2 Mbps till 15 GB and afterwards 512 Kbps.

2.5 GB is very less for anyone who browse a lot. One hour of video on YouTube will cost around 150 MB. Basic downloads like movies and songs etc will come to around 2 GB. Better not to choose 500 plans if you are thinking of browsing a lot.

Even with the upgraded speed UL 750 is not enough to watch movies unbuffered(at least in my case). As meetdilip suggested you can check out the ULF 1100 or better still the ULF 1350 which gives 2 Mbps upto 15 GB, 512 Kbps beyond 15 GB.
As for the Rs.500 plams avoid them as said earlier. By watching 2 high definition movies you will exhaust the 2.5GB limit.

You may try BSNL EvDO. It gives up to 3.1 Mbps for Rs. 900 ( not sure, but somewhat around it). But do take a demo at your place before you buy it.

Yes. Unlimited browsing. Speed varies with the distance from tower and no. of users per tower. It is better to ask a BSNL representative give a demo/trial at your place. If you are getting good speeds, go for it.

Where do you live ? City, suburb or rural area ?

If you wish to surf a lot and watch online movies/videos then any unlimited plan is the best option.

But face it, buffering/stuttering is a fact of broadband life till something like 10 mbps is an affordable reality.

p/s. I never advice anyone to change provider just for the heck of it. A known devil is always better than an unknown angel.

    good day
The day download limit is not sufficient for the thread starter,
He said he uses to watch movies, videos and you know that a movie rip is of 700MB
So if even e watches 2~3 even,in no time the 2560 MB Bandwidth will be exhausted!
Yes one can enjoy 2~8 am unlimited but he is not a heavy downloader
    Good Day to you too!

Surfing and downloading both use data.
When you connect to Internet and Select a You tube Video and watch it data is downloaded and also some data for Upload.
or you watch a cricket match live or have a VOIP telephone conversation data is used.
    Select Home 750 ( old name ) 512 Kbps speed max 64 KB/sec

see Post No 2 by @meetdilip)

and if not satisified you can upgrade to higher speeds.
Home 500C night usage free is normally for heavy auto scheduled downloads of Movies etc ( no one wants to keep awake 02AM to 08AM !)
    Para two :
Using FireFox Browser with add on adblock Plus and NoScript , blocking Flash etc can reduce data usage by minimum 30% to 50%. No point in seeing the same advertisements/popups in regularly visited pages./websites.

    Para three :
see the links given below for more info about modems/usage /settings etc.

i too suggest UL750 dude its great.

Unlimited downloading+ uploading so fixed charges= Rs750 as of broadband.

512Kbps is good speed so you won't feel that slow while browsing.

    Default thanky mateys

nah they are giving me lengthy process just to connect, I mean take a cab about 5 to 10 miles i think, head up north, go to office, find out what papers are needed, collect the papers, go back to office, fill the form, I mean im willing to pay even then u have to run in the heat for just 1 connection! so I guess reliance for me! atleast for 2 to 3 months, hope they increase the speed!

thanks for all your advice, ill need it in future!
