Thread: mac cloning on dna-a211-i

hello everyone,
i'm new to this site.

i was trying to forward ports on my dna-a211-i modem,but i came to know that it is possible only if i have static ip address.as we know bsnl doesn't provide static ip,so how can i do this.
also,
is mac cloning possible on my modem,if yes will it be helpful in my problem.

Static IP required for port-forwarding is completely different from the real life static IP.
Assuming that you use Windows7, go to Control Panel>View Network status and tasks>Change adapter settings>Right click LAN>properties>Accept the UAC prompt.
Click on IP V4>properties. Click on use the following IP address.
IP Address = Anything between 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.255. I prefer 192.168.1.2 or 192.168.1.10
Subnet mask= 255.255.255.0
Default gateway=192.168.1.1
I would prefer Open DNS(208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220) or/and Goole DNS(8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4)

You need to configure and internal static IP, not an external one. Procedure explained with screen shots.

If you use "Dialer" mode all ports are open

Change to PPP/PPPoE mode in wan page ( uncheck box "bridged"
and enter userid and Pw etc.

The port to be forwarded is your computer's ip address
192.168.1.X ( X= any value you allotted 2 to 254)
