Thread: Wi-Fi setting on Iphone 3G

Hello,

I recently got Iphone 3G and trying to configure Wi-Fi on it. I have BSNL type 2 modem and I have configured it. I am using USB modem to connect to my PC. Now when I try to connect Iphone to UTSTAR network I am not able to open any page in Safari. Iphone is detecting the UTSTAR network.
I am using static IP for Modem and static IP for Iphone as well.
Pls help me if someone has already configured it.

How do you connect ? USB modem or router ? Do you mean you use USB modem for connection and router for sharing the connection wirelessly ?

I am using USB modem which connects to my PC as PC is in different room and telephone line is in different room which connects to Wi-Fi WA3002G4 type 2 modem.

Now I want to connect Iphone to Wi-Fi network. Earlier I had 2G Iphone and I was able to connect to Wi-Fi using Static IP on both PC and Iphone. However now I don't remember exacty what IP to use for Iphone and my PC(network card)

When I used to connect to Wi-Fi using Iphone I was connecting type 2 modem directly to PC instead of using USB modem. Thats how I am trying now as well.

Let me know what are your comments/suggetions.

Did you tried these ? Also still to mention modem - model and make

Clarify.
Whether you are taking a cable from WA3002-G4 USB port and connecting to USB port of Desktop .
'Using USB modem" : mention type model/make etc. Are you using a wifi ISP ?

If you are on "Dialer" mode change to PPP/PPPoE and uncheck "bridged" in WAn page of modem/router.
Enable DHCP
enable UPnP if seen
Have you used any security key for your wifi network ?

Hello ,

1) I am able to connect from my Desktop(Using USB modem) to Type 2 modem(WA3002G4 type 2 modem--provided by BSNL). I am using PPoE and also DHCP is enabled on BSNL modem.
2) Now when I keep the above set up as it is, I am able to see Wi-Fi icon on my Iphone (3G) However Safari browser is not able to open any web page or even You Tube is not opening.

Pls help..

Could someone who has already implimented this will reply to this post.

Not clear. Presume you don't have an ethernet card in your desktop PC and using USB port ( of WA 3002-G4 to USB port of PC)
If set up is same confirm.

(c) In WA3002-g4 enable DHCP in lan page and give a range say 192.168.1.3 to 192.168.1.20
(d) also enable UPnP
(e) presume you are in "Always On" PPP/PPPoE mode
( userId and PW entered in modem WAn page )
(f) Save reboot.

After Diagnostics I am getting following resulet:

Test your Wireless Connection: PASS


Test the connection to your DSL service provider Test ADSL Synchronization: PASS
Test ATM OAM F5 segment ping: PASS
Test ATM OAM F5 end-to-end ping: PASS


Test the connection to your Internet service provider Test PPP server connection: FAIL
Test authentication with ISP: PASS
Test the assigned IP address: FAIL
Ping default gateway: FAIL
Ping primary Domain Name Server: PASS

I have a LAN, however I connect to WA 3002-G4 (Type2) from my PC using USB modem as PC is at bit distance from Telephone line where WA 3002-G4 is kept.

I am using PRONET wireless USB adapter which is connected to my PC's USB port and make connectivity to WA 3002-g4.No connection from USB PORT of WA 3002-g4 to USB port of Computer.2.

Network Authentication is Open and WEP Encryption enabled with 128 bit

USE a Rj45 from lan 1 and connect to ethernet port of PC and confirm
internet is working.

it looks like you're using USB wifi adapter. so if you're being able to access internet from your PC, your wifi network is good. what you need to config. your iphone properly.

If this is used in the Desktop your wifi will work in computer.
First upload the drivers to say C:/Pronet USB drivers.
Restart system after inserting USB modem
Let Windows detect new Hardware ( Your OS?)

the WIFI icon should appear in Taskbar as well as in Network connections.
