    Default When session starts?

    When does a session starts?

When we turn on the modem or when we dial-up using user name & password.

I shutdown my computer but keep the modem on. I schedule my PC to wake up after 2 AM, dial-up automatically, connect to Web and start downloading.

Is this a right procedure or am I doing anything wrong?

I am confused. Need concrete solution. Please help.

    Start ur computer after 02:10
    shut down before 10 minutes
    not exactly @ 2o clock.
Because ur system time and server time may be different.

If you are using dialer to connect to internet, then your session starts from the time you are connected to the internet and not from switching on the modem.

new session starts when u sign in with the modem,if you are using bridge mode.if u are using pppoe mode,it starts when you start the modem,it has nothing to do with your CPU.so be careful with pppoe mode if you have a free browsing time of 2 am to 8 am,always restart the modem after 2 am.

It depends on the mode in which you are in

PPPoE - Connection is ON even if computer is shut down. You need to power Off the modem to disconnect and restart the internet.

Bridge - You need to simply disconnect using dialer. Or even a computer shut down will do the work.

You can try Imran's Broadband Helper Utility to automate the process or

    Auto-connect Download scheduler PC-Gyaan

How do you connect to internet ? Do you use a dialer in which ID and password is entered ? Do you click " Connect " button in the dialer ? If so, you are in Bridge mode. In PPPoE, ID and password is stored in the modem. To connect to internet, you just need to switch ON the modem.

    Hope it is clear now.

Yes I use user name, password and click "connect" to connect to Web.

I have also uploaded screen shot of my modem setting. It might help you understand my connection mode.

In Bridge mode, session starts only when you click " Connect " and it end when you either disconnect it or shut down the computer.

No need to restart the modem after 2am when modem is set to autodail.

just start downloads after 2:10 am.

i switch on the modem @ 10 pm and cpu starts @ 2:10pm daily
