1.You have the Netgear Wireless Lan adapter card
    inserted in your laptop.
If you had done the settings correctly,
click the Wifi Icon and choose
    View Available Wireless Networks "
If any secured or unsecured WIF network appear
Your settings in laptop and Netgear WLAN card are OK.
Power LED "ON" and WIFI connection LED will blink
if there is traffic. I have the same set up.
    MyISP/ modem110BX1 / OFF !
    Wifi router NetgearWGR614v6 is standby!
    working on a friend's U/L unsecured WIFI network !

    2.
Modem Mt841 needs additional PCMCIA wireless router
to be inserted in the modem itself. Very difficult to get.
Did you get it ? Confirm .
You may have to buy the wifi router mentioned above.
or purchase/exchange a new "3 in one" Type II or Type B
modem from BSNL for Rs 1600/+ Taxes
    Rental Rs 80/P.M
    Ref :
SmartAX MT-841 ADSL MODEM (Type-IV) MENU
    CONFIGURATION

    EXTRACT
    TYPE-IV

Step-11: On the left hand side, click on WLAN under Basic.

Step-12: On the right hand side, in the SSID Text box, delete MT841 and type an ID (This can be any name - type the name of the customer or the organisation - This is the ID with which, the customer's Wireless Network is identified)

Click on WPA-PSK Radio Button against WEP Method.

Type a password (with minimum 8 characters) in the WPA-PSK Key Text Box. (This is the password [Network key] with which, the Customer can enter into the Network identified by the SSID field.) Scroll down and click on Apply Button.

Step-13: On the left hand side, click on the + mark by the side of Advanced and the menu will expand.

    Step-14: Click on ADSL.

Step-15: On the right hand side, click on the drop down list against ADSL Modulation and select Multimode and Click on Apply Button.

Step-16: On the left hand side, Click on the - sign by the side of Advanced. The menu will collapse.

Step-17: On the left hand side, down below, click on the Save All button.

Step-18: "Save and Reboot" - message box will appear. Click on OK.

    Device is restarting...

    Please wait about 2 minutes

    screen will appear.

After 2 minutes when the Service Information screen appears, Close the internet explorer, allow the lamps to settle. Now in the configured MT841 modem, the link lamp will glow in amber. You have successfully configured MT841 type IV Wireless modem.

Having configured the modem, go to internet protocol (TCP/IP) properties again and take off the IP Address assigned by selecting Obtain IP address automatically radio button.

Thanks for the suggestion but the cases you have mentioned is not my problem. I was not provided with WLAN PCMCIA Adapter of Huawei MT841. So as an alternative i tried with NETGEAR WG511v2 PCMCIA Adapter. This is my problem now. When i insert the WLAN Card and Turn the modem ON, I do not find any signal in WLAN Indicator. So help me out... Thanks again..

    1.
    NETGEAR WG511v2 PCMCIA Adapter.
is meant for laptop. Not FOR USE in ADSL WiFi MODEM.

    2.
When you try in the laptop if Power LED
or the wifi do not bln . exchange wth the shop.

    3.
If you are using a Desktop computer
ask for a PCI wireless LAN card
    ( probably.you may get Netgear card )
    Attachment 6426
    4.
You have to buy a wifi router.
