Thread: Internet Doesn't work in Bridge Mode

Hello, I'm using Utstarcom Ut300r2u router and I tried forwarding ports but it still shows up as closed on canyouseeme.org

so i am trying in bridge mode with these settings:



But my internet doesn't work when I click apply and restart modem. Am I setting it up wrong? I'm using Windows XP and BSNL UL750 plan btw.

In Bridge mode, there is no need to forward the ports. They are open by default.

You may try PPPoE and check

I've tried it all. Net works fine in pppoe/pppoa mode. But even if i port forward using virtual server, canyouseeme.org doesn't detect open port. So i want to make bridge mode work.

What is your purpose of port forwarding ? Torrents or games ? I think there is some problem with the site you are checking. Use the port checker tool mentioned in the previous post.

Tool says its open, but canyouseeme says not open. So I was thinking that tool has only local access and so its working, while canyouseeme.org and utorrent port tester say its closed because they are wan?

I think it is an error from canyouseeme . Just download any torrent on utorrent and report the speed here. If the port is closed, there will be an Orange triangle at the bottom. Feedback.

torrents aren't a problem, I get like 50-60kbps sometimes. I'm forwarding ports for games like Counter Strike and other Multiplayers. People can't connect to my servers.

@essbebe please can you explain I didn't quite get you. You want me to post the data after turning on bridged mode?

If you want to setup bridge mode then delete the previous entry with PPPOE from your router, after that setup the bridge mode with PVI/VCI entry 0 - 35.

After that you have to set up Wan miniport on your Windows XP for log into BSNL ISP with using your user ID and Password.

If i setup a miniport, isn't it still a pppoe connection? Check the attached file please.

Yes, it's still pppoe connection, even if you log in from your router it's also call pppoe connection. But in this pppoe connection from your computer your are not behind the NAT you are in open network on internet side. You are easily connectable from any other side of the world.

ah I get it. Well but its still not saying any open ports.

PS i found something more weird today. The port checker tool says port open when checked for TCP when I checked for UDP it says port not opened. Do note I have forwarded both protocols.

Confirm again , You are using an External dialer to connect
( known as wanminiport PPPoE " bridged" option in Modem )
ONLY DMZ No PF required.

Always On " PPP/PPPoE" with userId/PW entered in wan page of modem.
Virtual server/ Port triggering available under Advanced options NAT in most modems.
