Question Speed decrease after using Linksys WRT54G2 router! Plz help

Hi, I'm using 500c+ plan with UT300R2U (type I) modem,i recently set up wireless network with Linksys WRT54G2 router using the guide provided by "just4kix"
(i couldn't post the link as i don't have permission)

The wifi network(one laptop and ipod) and my wired PC are workin fine for browsing but there has been a horrible speed decrease in utorrent download.I used to download around 3.6 GB daily but now it's around 1.6 GB! Could anyone please suggest any solutions for this? I tried portforwarding but the wireless network won't work if i do that and there wasn't any increase in speed.

    Thank you: )

    1.
The speed tends to be low when in Wifi mode . ( for low speeds may not make much difference )
compare 100Mbps data transfer in Lan mode and 54 Mbps speed in wifi routers. ( also 11 Mbps speed in old USB port connection )
    2.
If you get a wifi router N series with speed of 108 Mbps d/l speed may improve. Not verified.
    3.
How could you set P/F in Ut300r2U ?
New model supplied by BSNl NAT option only DMZ available.
Virtual server /poer triggering menu items may not be available.
    4.
Download TCP Optimizer from speedguide.net and select optimal values.
    5.
Check speed here in different conditions/time and get a record.
My Broadband Speed - Broadband Speed Tester.
    6.
What is your tariff plan ? speed expected ?
    7.
Feedback: Item wise will be helpful.

Thanks a lot for replyin essbebe.

3.I didn't actualy P/F,i just set an internal IP as 192.168.1.2 and put it in DMZ.I was shown as connectable in all my private tracker accounts.

    4. I just did that and set it to "optimal" values.

5.I got just 800 kb/s on an average after around 5 tests at different times.
In speedtest i got an avg of 1.25 Mb/s.
When i download files from a server i'm getting max speed of 220 KBPS.

    6. My plan is BSNL 500C+,and expected speed(which i'm constantly getting from 1.5 years!) is around 200 KBPS in utorrent avg. But after adding linksys router i'm getting around 100 KBPS.

    thanks for your reply.
any other problem please post .
    8. Use firewall and Antivirus applications, as in DMZ all ports are open.

On speedguide, net i saw a guide for setting up "How to set a Wireless Router as an Access Point" and the author of the post says it's better than using PPPoE on linksys router and bridging on modem as i've done using the tutorial provided by just4kix.

Is the former method better? what do u suggest?

    internet connection direct without a landline based BB connection or cable connection;
    Wireless access point; normally means
Like EV-DO Wimax USB Modem Data card etc.

Speed is never predictable, and even with my present cable connection, with speed upto 16 Mbps , it varies depending on web conditions in WIFI mode.( usual wifi router)

Hope @just4kix will also add his comments here.
