Thread: New broadband connection ??? Check this...

Hi friends...

If you have a new broadband connection then please check this.

I have got a new connection 3 days ago.
But this is the odd thing that i am experiencing.....
In my broadband usage page, Chargeable Units(KB) Excluding Night Unlimited field is showing value 0 even for day surfing.

Which means i can download unlimited data during day time also.

Why so ? I have 500c home plan...which means its not free during day time..


So please check if you too have the same thing in you usage page.
If it is so then this must be a offer given to new users..
If so then you can download unlimited for atleast 3 days according to my experience.

Check whether you have got any special offer like unlimited download for the first month, i remember bsnl had some offers like that but not sure whether that offer is available now.
and also bsnl servers may some time take 4-5 days to get details updated, so be sure not to get excess bill by the month end.

home 500c is only 1.5 gb daytime download , and 2-8 hrs free, speed upto 2mbps.

I dont see any day time usage in your screenshot. The usage between 2 AM - 8 AM is shown which is obviously not charged. Download something after 8.00 am and then post the screenshot.

I think you are availing this 15 days unlimited offer for new connections. Though, i'm not sure of the validity date. Maybe they've extended the offer.Here's the link:

So, just enjoy the facility for 15 days and you're not going to get the offer again...

And BTW, there is no daytime usage in the screenshot you've uploaded.

The times shown 0200AM to 0800AM is the free Night usage block .(for 500C Home )
What d/l details you have posted falls within this time block.

You are new user of BSNL so you dont know how to check the usage record.
Your screenshot does not shows any records after the 8:00 AM
In your plan - 500c home plan you have night Unlimited from 2AM to 8AM

Yes. I got a message from BSNL cellone, For new users BSNL offering free unlimited download for first 15 days. It is for all new users who apply for connection before 31 july.

Also heard about free downloads for new registrants...

but is there any scheme for those who already have bsnl net??

i think bsnl shall not turn down the old users who were so faithful to them amidst comptt..

That is not the case with me. When I got the net connection 500c I never get a free on day only night was unlimited from 2am to 8am only. Even my friend have also not get any free like u he has taken a connection just 1 month ago and I m using from 1year and I never heard anything like this.
There must have some problem or BSNL has provided u wrong plan or anything like that, please don't take lightly. You can do two things
1. is to not to download anything on day and wait for the bill. or
2. complain it before they caught you and can blame you as you have done fraud or something, and can charge u fine.
so don't take lightly take a right decision before anything happens.

BSNL is providing some good offers to new BB customers who register their connection on or before 31-07-10.
The offer is a below:
1.For connections with limited usage you get 2Mb/s unlimited download for 24hrs for the first fifteen days from when you get the connection.
2.For connections with unlimited usage you get 2Mb/s speed for the first fifteen days and then the speed reverts back to the speed for the opted plan.

Check the flying ad/banner on Calcutta Telephones (thats my circle but BSNL offers on BB are generally all India)


Normally BSNL texts SMS on mobile the followinf;
service user ID and password
portal user ID and password
The last 8 digits of your portal ID represents the connection date. Mine is 12.04.2010.
And I received free usage till 27.04.2010 12:00 mid night. All my usage during this time (both during peak as well as happy hours) was listed as 0 under the chargeable units in the usage portal.

Spoilers:
1.If you applied for modem from BSNL itself, you might receive it much later than the SMS and you can't avail the offer to its fullest.
2.If you do not know how to setup the BB connection yourself using the SMS data, and rely on BSNL personnel to set it up for you, again you are on the receiving end. (Search the forum or use BSNL BROADBAND MAIN MENU > choose modem > and follow instructions.)
3.If you have not provided any mobile no. in your application letter then you might not receive any prior communication regarding the IDs and Passwords and rely on the service activation letter from BSNL which is sent by post and may reach you much later than your actual date of connection.
