Thread: BSNL Low Speeds During Night

Hi Guys!
I applied to BSNL Home 500c+ Plan and got the connection at the start of this month. Lately i have been observing crawling speeds during my night downloads (literally). During the start i used to get about 180-250KBps speed while downloading from megaupload, rapidshare etc. but from since a week or so i am hardly getting even 50KBps constantly. most of the time the download speed remains at almost 15KBps i am unable to download even 200mb full night!!I use auto connect PC Gyaan with Rdesc to download files from these sites automatically. To confirm weather it was BSNL or RDesc i downloaded my latest catalyst drivers from softpedia and am experiencing the same slow speed problem (although not 15KBps but somewhere around 30-40KBps thanks to IDM). Please suggest me something guys!! Would it be worth to try and give a complain?? any other suggestions are also welcome


Note: I purchased modem from BSNL and they gave me some "BOX" :P which has AR800V v3.0 written on it!

Have you made a recent changes to your firewall or antivirus ? Disable it and try. Use Tuncan manager for one click hosting sites and try.

I have absolutely made no changes to anything. In fact i recently scanned my system with kaspersky IS 2010 (updated), no virus 100% and then uninstalled it so no worrys. I wanted to use Tucan but unfortunately it doesn't have the "Reconnect" feature present in Rdesc which workes flawlessly. Any other downloading software??

ok. I think Jdownloader and Cryptload will work for you. Some times antivirus or firewall will block traffic. In that case disabling it will clear the issue. Make a complaint. A few others users have also faced this situation. It is due to the congestion of line during this period. May be many users in your line are also attempting such download. Make a complaint while we try to fix the issue.

I dont know you are using paid connection of megaupload or rapidshare, because during night time those server are busy then the day time and if you are using free connection then you might face this problem.

Other problem I find from your screenshot is that your modem upload speed set to 156Kbps, the unit shows in your modem is bits, for getting downlod speed 220KBps your upload speed should be set to minium 256Kbps. Your upload amount is set to low value because your modem mode is not correct. Set it to G.DMT mode.

To checking what is your current set mode then click on the Advanced ontion in your Modem on Overview page.

is the speed problem only at night free 2am-8am?
if you are not having premium account for download you will not get much speed, bcoz in that time users downloading is high....

i am a premium user, i am getting 230-240 kbps.

in free account downloading i only get 25-35kbps speed.

sometimes my net connection is also slowing down

i am user of home 5oo c, i download file from rapidshare and megaupload, but i got good speed. i think it is your bad luck. i think you have to try torrents file for download.
also you try http file from songs.pk and measure speed of http download at night during 2am to 8am. if its speed is good then only problem in rapidshare and megaupload.

59 series IP here, kolkata

there have been on and off issues with latency esp to foreign servers over the last few weeks.

however over the last 2-3 days things have been somewhat better.

although the incredibly bad latency spike between 6:45am-8am is still there.

and i am get 200 kBps

should i go to my bsnl exchange office and complaint there
