Default Question regarding BSNL plans/service

Hello:
I'm currently working in the US and plan to telecommute from Bangalore for a couple of months this summer. The BSNL site advertises 2 Mbps download speeds for the Home 1800 and Home 3300 plans. There is no mention of upload speeds. I wanted to check if anybody had signed for either of these plans, what are the typical upload speeds and if the actual download speeds match what they advertise. Is there a long lead time to get the connection? Any suggestions/advice will be most appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi Buddy,

I am 900 UL plan customer from chennai.
There is a recent change in the speed for all the plans expect 900 UL.
The Speed in the plans are increased as 256 Kbps/Upto 2Mbps.

My DL speed is 20-30 kbps (max 40 kbps) &
UL speed is 6-7 kbps (max 7 kbps)

But I have seen my friend's Airtel Connection UL speeds upto 16kbps..

Regards,
Vinu...

Default BSNL Speeds

Vinu:
Thanks for the info. The speeds that you have mentioned appear to be slower than dial up speeds, so I guess the broadband speeds in reality are a fraction of the advertised speeds.

Default KB/sec and kbps

My DL speed is 20-30 kbps (max 40 kbps) &
UL speed is 6-7 kbps (max 7 kbps)

This may be KB/Sec (kilo Bytes per second) so 30 KB/Sec is 240 kbps
and BSNL is offering 256 kbps (kilo bits per sec)
