UL 750 - 512 Kbps unlimited - Rs. 750 per month -No fair usage policy. I am using this. Quite happy. But the download speed will be a bit low. So may not suit you if you want to download in GBs per day.

Try any of these. Has 2 Mbps speed - Night unlimited - Has day time limit.

BBG FN 500, BBG FN Combo 500 or BBG FN Combo 600

List of all plans and tariff from BSNL

    Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd.

    Hope this helped.

    Default think about this

if u need to downlload movies.daily use
    600fn plan
and if ur dad or mom is govt employee u get 20 percent discount
so u will get bill 480 ruppes

    and plus
u will get 250 calls free per month
    and
first 15 days unlimited downloads day and night

    if i were u.
    i will cho0se this plan.......

hope i made clear about this plan
    i can assure u
u can download daily 3.5 gb at night time from 2 to 8

    after 15 days

    hav fun

Here is the deal, if you want to download extensively and have a decent modem. Then, you have two options:
    1)BBG FN 500
    2)BBG FN Combo 600

The only difference whatsoever between these two is the cost of the additional usage i.e.,Rs. 0.6/mb for (1) and 0.5/mb for (2).
Also, there is also additional number of calls free in the latter. If you know how to portforward and use torrents well, then you can download upto 4.5gb/night.
If you don't use the bsnl landline much and don't browse too much then the first is a better choice.

The next obvious and most popular choice is,
    BB Home UL 750

This is the one you could use when you are browsing extensively and downloading lesser and do not mind keeping your system on for more than 12 hrs. The download speed you get here is 58-60 kbps tops. Another advantage of this is if you want to play online games then it is a better choice. BSNL recently increased the bandwidth from 256 to 512 kbps. So, take this if you want to cash in on the advantage.

According to my experience with BSNL, these three or four plans are the only reasonable for home users like us.

    ya, its true.....
if u want to download movies..
    HOME 750UL+ is enough..

but if u want to download in GB's.
HOME 600 combo plan is the best......

    2MBps speed.......
    u can download around 3.5GB every n8..
    250 FREE local calls.......
and 2.5GB day time download limit!....

    Choice is yours........

even i am also planning to shift from my present plan HOME 750UL+ to 600 combo......

Users report 180 + KBps. If you are lucky you will get 220 +.

I too thought that 4.5gb per night was a fantasy back in the day, but then after i had done a lot of trial and error method, i had finally configured my modem to get 4.5gb. Even a couple of me friends also started getting it.
Firstly, what you need is a good simple modem, my smartax mt882 was doing wonders till it died and now i'm struggling with dlink.

The most important thing for getting good speeds is to have a good static ip address. I don't know if you probably know this already, but here's what you should enter in the tcp/ip4 settings:
    IP add: 192.168.1.100
    Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
    Default gateway: 192.168.1.1

DNS: I prefer these but others are also quite good
    primary: 208.67.222.222
    secondary:208.67.220.220

The next big thing, is port forwarding in utorrent, choose a port number > 55000 and <65000. They ususally give good speeds. Also, this link was quite helpful johntp.com/2006/04/19/how...s-of-utorrent/( Ctrl+Enter)
[Sorry i can't give link till i have 15 posts]

Lastly the most important thing is finding good torrent sites:
If you have experienced the difference between public and private trackers then you should have already started to search all over the net for it. Most of the public trackers' speed sucks. Isohunt was a good one but unfortunately they are blocking IPs. If you are lucky it might open for you. Another tip is that never download anything as soon as it is released wait for some time if you are not in hurry. Also for TV torrents check out eztv.it they are very good in speeds as close to some private sites.

(P.S. Now even I have problems with downloading 4 gb after I changed my modem, and that is the reason I joined this site. Still i am unable to find the reason. And will be grateful to anyone who can help me. )

    Hope this helps,
    Cheers

I am using 500c plan 2mbps, 1.5gb limit at day, night unlimited 2 to 8am, 175 calls free no fixed rent only Rs 500/month and 12% tax. After limit cross they charge 0.80 paisa/Mb. In 6hrs I can download maximum 3.5GB only @180-195KB/s in torrent and 210KB/s from warez sites. Upload rate was 45-50KB/s.

This is the screen shot of downloading file from megaupload in opera at constant rate.
This is the maximum speed I have get 221KB/s.

this is my first post..after having browsed for hours on this forum..
i'm currently on hathway but since they recently implemented fair usage policy im in the lookout for a new connection.
After lot of research i've two options in mind..BSNL EVDO and BSNL broadband home ul 750..
does evdo really provide the speed as described on the bsnl site??
plus does bsnl implement fair usage policy on either of the connections??

    @parthasg
Mention whether you are using a desktop computer or a laptop .
Your location/town/city/village. Whether EV-DO tower is provided .
    2.
Your surfing pattern. Movie downlods torrents etc.

3.Home 750 speed now is 512 Kbps unlimited d/l without FUP.
For first 15 days the speed will be upto 2 Mbps
    ( offer till 31st July . also installation charges waived , i think )

    4
Check details in link "Bsnl" links given below. and select tariff page.
Plan can be changed after a month to higher speed.
