You'll need to start, or boot, your computer using the Windows 7 installation disc or USB flash drive.

    1. Turn on your computer so that Windows starts normally, insert the Windows 7 installation disc or USB flash drive, and then shut down your computer.
    2. Restart your computer.
    3. Press any key when prompted, and then follow the instructions that appear.
    4. On the Install Windows page, enter your language and other preferences, and then click Next.
If the Install Windows page doesn't appear, and you're not asked to press any key, you might need to change some system settings.
    5. On the Please read the license terms page, if you accept the license terms, click I accept the license terms, and then click Next.
    6. On the Which type of installation do you want? page, click Custom.
    7. On the Where do you want to install Windows? page, click Drive options (advanced).
    8. Click the partition that you want to change, click the formatting option you want to perform, and then follow the instructions.
    9. After formatting, restart the PC
When finished you might have to change the settings in the bcdedit file.
When completed formatting please report here.

    What is the Urgency ?
What is the total space available in your Hard disk ?
    What is the problem ?
C: is the default drive and as you say you are a beginner
you may have more problems by formatting C: only.
Presume you have the Installation CD.

    Para two:
    download Ccleaner from filehippo.com
clear old temp files/cache. Another ption is to remove all Ols System restore Points.
Report how much disk space saved.

    I completely concur with @essbebe.
Before following my post, give reply to the questions by essbebe.
Remember that, if you do something wrong, you can end up with a blank hard-disk.

    Default Delete F: drive first

C: drive normally contains the boot.ini file

The best solution would be format the F:drive first >>Remove the deleted OS from boot.ini>>
Then install a fresh on C Drive

    Default sorry..my bad

sorry guys i think imissed a point here......

    i dont have installation cd.....
i just had ann iso image of 5gb
so i jsut expanded the image.....using magic iso
    it became
    10.4gb on d drive
so at first while iam using vista i just run the set up file from d drive of iso image
so normally the windows 7 ultimate installed........
after few months one of the dll extension missed

so got irriatted......and decided to format
thinking as c drive got less space as much as 8 gb even after cleaning the drive with cc cleaner and
    space dint improved

so i chose f drive to install new os
    again windows 7 ultimate

so wen i restart my system still my system shows c drive only 8gb space free as usual
so fed up with c cdrive
i tried to format c drive directly but it dint allowed at all
so i put the question here.......

my hard disk is 160 gb
now as i formatted all other drives
c drive had free space of just 8 gb
and f used 12 gb to get installed

sorry if it seems to u iam crazy
i have already told iam beginner

    so i need finally
    only one os on computer
with 130 or 120 gb space free
i have back uped all data in to dvds

as i dont have installation dvd.i need to do it from d drive itself

as i dont have a 10gb pen drive
and it cant be written on 4gb dvd

also i dont mind if 12 gb still wastd in d drive containing set up files or iso image of windows ultiamate

    thnx for reply.......but ..........not yet.......

dint understood old os restore points..............

dint understood old os restore points..............
In Ccleaner in Tools option to delete ONE BY ONE all old "SRP "available.
    This also saves space.
Mention how you have allotted disk space to different drives.

after few months one of the dll extension missed
    which one.?
You got an error message when running an application.
    try Google search.

    Problem
C: drive 36.7 GB free space 8 GB
UNABLE TO FORMAT WINDOWS 7 ( old Vista )
    No installation CD.

1.Not specifying the DLL file name . Why ?
2.How much Windows Directory uses in C: drive ?
    3. What is the error message you get when trying to format C:/

Use Easy BCD and remove the boot entry. Also insert the Windows disc and format the drive you want.

Use this tool and remove the old OS from boot entry

Download EasyBCD 2.0.1 - NeoSmart Technologies

Download a Windows disc from torrents or your friend. That is the better way to do it.

PROBLEM Format C: drive and reload windows because of
    sshnas.dll error

From startup menu , you have to uncheck the application loading this dll.
Your computer has some malware or virus.
Run in Safe mode with System Restore disabled.
Download Antimalware bytes and run it for full hard disk.

I searched Google for this sshnas.dll and got above information.

Having no Installation CD wiping the full C: drive is not advisable.
List all the applications which appear at start up.
Do you have any anitvirus antimalware applications loaded in your computer ?
