Default Need Help: IPod Touch Wifi Connection through BSNL - Teracom Type II Modem

    Hello friends,

I have purchased Teracom Type II modem from BSNL since I bought an Ipod touch. I could successfully configure the wifi connection and checked the same by connecting a laptop with wifi option.

But when I try to connect the Ipod touch, it automatically shows my wifi network name when it search for network. I chose the network and provided the security Key. Ipod shows that it is connected and signal is full (I am near my modem only).

But when I try to access the internet in Ipod, it triess for a long time and shows an error and ask to check the network settings.

Is there any specific settings to be done to connect the Ipod through Wifi..?

Someone please help me in resolving this..

    Thanks in advance,
    Stallion

.If you are on "Dialer" mode(uncheck "bridged" in wan page)
change over to "Always On "PPP/PPPoE
( UserID PW entered in wan page of modem )
    2
    .Enable DHCP
    3.
If UPnP box is available in modem/router check it.
    4.
If you have already allotted an Ip in
    Network/LAN/WLAN/ properties page
    Network settings
    select tcp/IP
    select Obain Ip address automatically.

    Hello friend,

    Thanks for your reply..

    Here are my settings details.

    1. I am already in PPPoE mode.
    2. Already enabled in DHCP.
    3. What is UPnP box..? Can you pls illustrate..
    4. I have already kept the Lan settings as obtain IP automatically.

I could not browse internet in IPod touch even though it says that it is connected to my wifi connection. But I can browse internet in a Laptop if I connect the same through wifi.

Check the white list entries in your teracom router.
    also see

mention the channel number you have selected. Usually 6 or 11.

    Dear essbebe,

    Thanks again.,

Initially in the Mac Address Filter tab the option was in "disabled" mode.
I also tried enabling it and manually adding the Mac addresses of my Laptop & Ipod touch.
Then also my laptop is connected and able to browse but in Ipod touch it says connected as before but could not browse.

I have the channel number option in Auto mode. I will try changing it to 6 or 11 and let you know by evening.

Is there anything else to trouble shoot..

    Thanks in advance.,

first start with wep standard of security, check whether you can get internet then switch to higher standard wpa, wpa2 standard. some devices can connect in wep security level.

mvb4u, you are right. Ipod touch does not work with '64bit encryption" security option with Teracom type2 modem. I also had the same problem with my ipod. It was able to detect WIFI but could not connect to internet. Earlier I had utstarcom type 4 modem. I don't know how my ipod touch was working with 64bit encryption.

Then I changed security option to "Wi-fi Protected Access2" with "AES-CCMP protocol" encryption protocol and 'PSK (pre shared key)" Authentication method. I gave some "1234567890" as WPA pass phrase. Rest all default values. Then reboot, voila, ipod touch begins to work!
