Thread: Using a non-BSNL router

I just bought a D-link GLB-802C ADSL2+ router (i was totally fed up with the disfuctional huawei mt841 router that i had and bsnl was taking months to do anything about it)

I used the d-link easy-connect utility on the CD and set up a dynamic PPoE connection to bsnl.

I had a few questions about this setup:

1) I don't see any dialer like my old bsnl modem; is there any way to get this back instead of the always-on mode I'm seeing now ?

2) Is it possible to switch between different dns providers (instead of entering new details into LAN->properties->tcp-ip settings every time) ?

3) I cannot seem to traceroute any servers after getting this modem. Anyone know a way to enable this ?

Dialer is set up in your computer.
Option in Modem will be "Bridged" in wan page.
Uncheck PP/PPoE or PPoE/PPPoA box. select "Bridged. save reboot.
No other changes.

When I switch to bridged mode internet stops working.
The old dialers I have for the huawei mt840 modem are not working any more (giving error 678).

When I am in dynamic PPoE mode internet is working but I am unable to do traceroutes (although ping works).
