Thread: urgent need and suggestions

from 3 days
my laptop is giving very huge fan sound.........
is that ok ...........
it is 1.6 year old compaq presario series laptop
and warranty is over


sound i s not stopping until shutdown



intially it use to produce sound for first 5 minutes and thn silent
but now as longas lappy is on it is giving sound




guys any idea????
any suggestions???

Is the outlet for heat generated at the base of your laptop? If yes, then it requires cleaning, because dust particles settle on the fan and causes friction. I would suggest to use a vacuum cleaner with a constricted nozzle and suck up the dust. You should also keep the base of the laptop lifted on a raised platform so as to allow the heat given out by the processor to escape..

As for your question if the fan sound is okay or not...it's not..

Laptop Fan dont run continously. It starts only when temperature is over the prescribed limit. Clean the vents and see if it works. If fan is still running it can be malfunction. The sensor which shuts the fan off or on is not working might be, or your laptop is heating too much. keep the laptop in AC room and see if fan shuts.

The same problem was with my old Dell, the fan was running all the time, got the vents cleaned but it runs and runs. the problem was due to coke spillage vents got choked and fan was running always to keep the laptop cool.
